They have the option to test for things they suspect or to do random sampling.

U.S. is always looking for a reason to deny. If you are currently using any illegal substance stop now and clean out your system. Lying always leads to problems, but avoid admissions. Never say more than is asked of you in any interview. The interviewer/doctor is not your friend. If you admit to or test positive for illegal drug use you will be denied.

As far as I know drug testing is not a standard part of the medical and i'd assume to do one without your knowledge would go against your rights however you are required to produce a urine sample at the medical and I guess if they had reason to believe you are a regular drug user then they might request a drug test on your sample.

If you are that worried it's time to quit smoking that hash! They can find traces in your blood for up to 2 months.... But you will of course answer truthfully when they ask if you ever used drugs. Never ever lie during this process it will just bite you in the butt!

You give a blood test at your medical. This is to check for syphilis but who knows what else they check with that blood, if anything. Point is, they have your blood test and can easily check it for other things than the said syphilis.

in my case they did a random check to a few people when I was doing the medical, the doctor just said to us, I will need an urine example from you, you and you, that was it.

To the people that don't do drugs is not a problem, but to the people that do drugs, they may think twice. so don't be surprised if they do the same to you, and as everyone says in this forum, just the fact that you lie is a serious problem that can lead to the deny of your visa.

Drug tests are not part of the standard exam.

Some clinics require the police certificate at the exam to see if there are any drug/alcohol charges. They also ask if you have ever used drugs. If you have drug charges, admit to ever trying drugs, or act/smell of drugs, they will usually get a urine sample to test you.

Dude, just admit to your drug use and take your 1 year visa delay. 1 year is certainly more preferable to a 10-year or permanent ban from the USA for lying.

Do you really think regular cigarettes are illegal? No even though smoking cigarettes kills both the smoker and people around him, smoking regular cigarettes are not illegal.
