LUFTHANSA STRIKE

I have not seen my husband since March 2013. I booked a flight with Travelocity last month and secured a reservation for 11/13/15 - 11/28/15 using Lufthansa airlines. I received a text this morning from the airline stating my flight has been canceled due to the strike. I spent an hour and forty minutes on the line with Travelocity to try to secure another flight. Flying on short notice with another airline would have an up-charge of about $400 which I do not have right now. So I elected to have them refund me. The refund takes 2-8 weeks!!!! I guess it's far better for them to cancel than to arrive at my connection in Frankfurt and then sit there in the airport with the other 20,000 stranded passengers.

Luthansa did not offer to help you schedule with another airline? i am surprised

I can understand your frustraiton

I was with my husband 3 months in 2011 and then stayed in the US doing all the work for immigration untill i finally got back to Morocco in December 2014.

This ordeal immigration puts us through when we are doing everything legal is hard on all of us

We had successful interview finally in 2015 and he is here/ i can only say it is all worth it when you are finally together.

Incha allah

you will succeed

i use cheapoair.com for tickets as i have tried all and found them the best

Good luck

Yes, they offered to schedule another flight for me however the ticket I had booked I paid $865 for. The days/tickets they tried to re-book for me this morning were coming in at $1100-1300. So I'd have to fork over another $300 to book now. I just asked that I get the refund so that I can try to book again in the next month or so to try to get the cheaper fare.

Inshallah, this all happens for a reason. I had several other obstacles before the text this morning and I was beginning to wonder if I should go right now; them cancelling the flight was kind of just reaffirmation for me that this isn't supposed to happen right now. Perhaps I will be able to schedule a flight during the time he will get an interview - we received CC from NVC on 10/5 so we're hopeful to get a Feb/Mar interview.

Thanks for sharing your experience, it certainly helps knowing that others go through such long separations and in the end are victorious. Alhamdulah your husband is here with you now.

Okay back to seriousness though if the airline confirmed that your flight is cancelled due to the strike then because of EU regulations you have the right to a refund within 7 days and they would have to help you get a new flight. So they failed completely.

INTERESTING!!! They did not say ANYTHING to me about (Lufthansa) having to pick up the tab for the difference in air fare for another flight. How convenient. Think I will call them back tonight. Secondly, they confirmed more than once I will not receive a refund for 2-8 weeks. Ridiculous.
