Vaccinations are they age specific?

Hi

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question but I couldn't find an exact answer on search.

I am trying to be proactive and making sure all my vaccinations are current hoping we get to the medical stage eventually (really early on in the process!)

I have today been for a tetanus booster and the nurse asked if I need MMR, this wasn't available when I was a child so I haven't had it, do I need to get it or is it not necessary?

I am 47 if that helps.

Thanks for your patience with my stupidity :)

Yes, vaccines are age specific. You should get the MMR, though it's a childhood vaccine really. You will also need to get Hep shots. London will tell you all the shots you need to get at the medical.

HI

Yes you will need to have proof of immunity to MMR or show dosage. of at least one if time does not prevail you to have the two dosages.

Basically im the same age as you and while my petition is on hold till i sort out legal stuff with my daughters father i managed to make sure i have all correct jabs for myself and daughter.

At my medical roughly this time last year i was given my vaccination documentation worksheet( which you need to adjust status when you get married)

I was told i required to have MMR 2 doses( which is 4 weeks apart). I had to pay for thisat a travel clinic as my nurse would not give it em so if your doctors is giving it you free take it.

Had to show 3 doses of Tetanus, Diptheria and Polio ( Tdap dose) I could only show 2 doses from my doctors printout out of my vaccination history

proof of chicken pox or vaccination( which we dont get). My daughter had it when she was 4 and documented.

Flu jab due to time of year

The link at Nick-nich has put up is very useful also

Its best to get it all done here sames money over there.

hope it helps

Go to your NHS doctor and get the immunizations you will need for Adjustment of Status. You can get a K1 visa without having any shots, but you will need them before AOS. Its extremely wise to take care of it before getting to the US so you can avoid civil surgeon hassles and $$$. Many NHS doctors will do them for free, but they are not obligated to do so for immigration purposes. Get the shots documented by your doctor to take to your visa medical exam. If your doctor should say you dont need something on this list, remember you have to go by US rules and that differs from UK standards. Here are the shots needed for 19 through 59 years of age:

  • Td or Tdap - Tetanus/diptheria/pertussis or get DT, DTP or DtaP and it will be accepted for AOS also. The latest shot must be no longer than 10 years ago or you need a booster. If you have a record of receiving pertussis, then the Td is okay for the booster.
  • MMR - (if born in 1957 or later)-Mumps/measles/rubella. It's two doses in your life, but if you get the first dose, and 4 weeks haven't passed by your medical, they will waive the second dose for "insufficient time interval". If you only had one dose as a child, get a second one before the medical.
  • Varicella - Not routinely given in the UK . A history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa medical exam.
  • Influenza Required during flu season only, October 1 through March 31. This was a new recommendation dated November 2010 for all ages over 6 months. Older lists will say flu shots for over age 50. It changed.

You will also need to get Hep shots.

^ NO to Hepatitis shots. Not required of adults.

Thanks all :)

I'll suck it up and get the MMR then

My print out shows the following so should be ok for the rest I think

Tetanus - May, June and July 1968, November 2015

Diphtheria - As above

Smallpox - April 1970

Polio - August, September, October 1968, November 2015

I think I will be outside the flu jab period by the time we get through the process and enter AOS (hopefully not into the next season!)

Thanks again :)

Sorry, I can't even copy from a printed sheet properly :(

Pertussis - may, June, July 2015

I wondered about the polio, maybe the nurse entered it incorrectly this morning as I only had the one jab?

Have booked the MMR
