Pregnant. Trying to marry and get spouse here! [merged threads]

I am currently pregnant by my fiancé that lives in Dominican Republic. I live in Houston, Texas. We are planning on getting married next month 12/20/15 in Dominican Republic. My question is what route will be the quickest way to get him here for the birth of our child (due May 1, 2016)? Should we apply for a fiancé immigrant application and not get married until he can come to Texas or get married in Dominican Republic and apply for a spouse immigrant application? Does anyone have any idea how long all of this will take or should I expect him to miss the birth of our child? Thanks in advance. This is all very overwhelming while pregnant.

K1 is quickest could start that now.

No route is that quick.

It's unlikely that a K1 or a spouse visa would be issued before the birth.

If him working asap is a priority then the spouse visa is better because he can work right away compared with the K1 where you marry and then file for the EAD along with adjustment of status. It makes things simpler when he arrives and with a new baby that may be a good thing for you as you start life together.

Because neither will happen before the birth of your child, i suggest the cr1 route. This is because your husband would be able to start looking for work right away vs sitting at home for 3 months. Also a joint sponsor is always easier in a spousal visa case than with a K1 should that be required.

Also the overall cost of a Cr1 is less than the K1 to green card.

About a year.

Where can I find the DR timelines

K-1 timelines

CR-1/IR-1 timelines

In both cases, select Dominican Republic from the "country" dropdown underneath the list, then click "set filter". Use the up and down arrows at the top of the NOA1 column to display the lists in date order based on when the NOA1 was received (which is effectively the order in which they were filed).

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

Hi, I was pregnant and thought my husband would have been here by the time our son was born. The baby is now 6 months old and we are still waiting for him to arrive now just waiting for an interview. I would like to tell you I think he would be here but their process is really slow and especially when we are so anxious. Its tough but hang in there I did it and im still waiting. I wish you luck. But get started on that paperwork ASAP. Also we submitted as a CR1 we got married prior to sending the paperwork.

Your timeline gives me hope! it took a total of 4 months for your spouse to come! I am going to try to remain optimistic. We went the K-1 route because that seems quicker.

Expedited Request approved 8/10/15 USCIS

Emergency Interview approved 10/5/15. We were offered the 6,7, or 8th.

What allowed you to make an expedited request and allowed for an emergency interview? Is this something I could make a request for as well?

What would be the basis of your expedite request? I do not know what hers was.
