Missing out on 1 years worth of joint bank account statements

Hi guys

I am in the process of applying for removal of conditions and getting all my paperwork and evidence ready. (I can apply from December 5th onwards). My letter states that bank statements (showing you have a joint bank account) should be provided from the date you married to the date you apply for removal of conditions. Here is the thing...... Me and my husband married in February 2013 but I did not get my SS# and green card until March 2014. I have every single bank statement from this date, plus the application form signed and dated by myself, my husband and the bank showing the date I was added to my husband's account, which was March 2014. I am thinking of sending all bank statements from this date onwards with a cover letter attached explaining that before this date I was not on the account which is why I have not supplied bank statements from feb 2013 - March 2014. Do you guys think this is acceptable?

Yes! It is all you can do and at least you are addressing it now to avoid an RFE and delayed case later. Good luck! :)

Thanks Cheezees! I have also got the following evidence which I hope is enough

  • Copies of both mine and my husbands driving licence (showing we have same address)
  • 2x affidavits
  • Joint bank account statements (As stated above)
  • Transcripts of taxes
  • Joint vet bills
  • Joint utility bills
  • Joint life insurance policies
  • Joint ownership of new car
  • joint car insurance policies
  • joint credit card
  • copies of tenancy agreements
  • copy of emergency contact from both our employments showing each other listed as emergency contact for each other
  • A letter from bot my step-children's schools stating I am listed and registered at their school as step-mother, emergency contact and able to drop off/collect children from school

Is there anything else anyone can think of that I could include? We have separate health insurance policies as to add me to my husbands would cripple us financially and I work for a small business owner who does not include this as a benefit at work so I have my own health insurance policy

On the health insurance policies did you have to state anywhere that you are married? If so, did it ask for the name of your spouse? If it did, you could include copies of that :)

Your list looks very good!

I don't have a joint bank account with my wife. I hope that won't cause me a problem. I believe you are more than fine! Good luck.

I would throw that question out there and see what people think... I know the 3 main things they look for is joint lease/mortgage, joint bank account and joint taxes. Maybe include a cover letter explaining why you guys don't have a joint bank account. All situations are different and not all marriages share joint finances. Let me know how it goes

We have separate health insurance policies as to add me to my husbands would cripple us financially and I work for a small business owner who does not include this as a benefit at work so I have my own health insurance policy

This is a bit unusual. Typically, it is much, much cheaper (the amount you would have to pay) to be added to a spouse's work insurance policy than to independently purchase an individual health insurance policy.

In the usual situation, it is crippling financially to purchase a stand alone insurance policy.

If you are getting a cheap rate under Obama Care because of a low salary, be aware that you need to show your joint income for Obama Care, not just your income.

I agree,, it is a little unusual and sucks. My husband was married for 15 years prior to us getting together 5 years ago and only just the other weekend me and his ex-wife were discussing that it would have cost her hundreds also to be added to his health insurance when they were married, but she has worked for a major company for 20 years that luckily offer great heath insurance. Because of this my step children have always been on her policy and not my husbands. To add me to my husband's health insurance at work would make us out of pocket by over $300 a month. I am with Assurant health and its incredibly reasonable. Im not with Obama Care.

Insurance is ridiculously expensive. This year my husband is finally able to get self+1 health insurance (it was available on vision and dental before) whereas before we had to do family insurance. The cost is still significantly higher than a single but not nearly as high as a family which they consider 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids.) Considering I can't get pregnant, we won't be having kids anytime so paying for a whole family has always irked me.
