Have you ever been visited at home by the consulate????

Hi Vjers,

A guy i know who is going through the CR1 process with his wife for some time now got visited by two consulate and their driver at 9;30am without any notification.He is surprise how they knew his house because all they have is a P.O.Box address.The last time he got interviewed at the embassy was exactly a year ago and he was put on AP.They took his phone to check his calls and text messages and went through his email to check the communication between him and his wife and all they told him was they want to be sure he has a valid relationship.After going through his phone and email they told him they will call him.

I would like to know if any one has had this experience before and how did it go.thanks

That's what field agents do Some more extreme than others. Your friend they really are checking him out they might believe he has another woman or other matters.

Field agents have even been known to talk to neighbors.

I recall an F2b beneficiary which requires him to be single who lost his chance at a visa when field agents found out from his neighbors that he was in fact married. This was reported on VJ about 4-5 years ago.

So how common is this? because this is the first I am hearing about field agents. Do they do that for every case or is it specific to Ghana? How about K1?

I don't even know who live in my neighborhood and I am sure they don't know me either.

If your friend is in Ghana then I am not surprised.

Field agents do those trips and I have heard of numerous instances where they will visit the beneficiary's place of business or home.

One hairstylist (owner), had field agents visit her early morning while she was at home taking her time before coming to work..lol.. You could imagine who they spoke to..her apprentices..lol..but in all they were just there to verify some of the information she had shared with the embassy..

Also, you know that in Ghana, all they need is to find your household name and the town you live in (that applies to most places). Your neighbors don't need to be paid to dish out the dirt on your life to others..lol. But yeah, they do "investigative" work.

Yes have been in that shoes just three weeks ago two female agent and their driver I felt you where talking about me when you mentioned that but unluckily for me they sending my case back to the uscis for review and possible revocation based on extensive factual evidence they found at the field work but funny is I was lucky to meet with them after asking my neighbors about me and out of scared they claim not to know me I was able to meet with them and we had a chat same routing questions the consular ask me at the embassy in accra
