Hi,

I'm a K1 beneficiary (female), and I will not be taking my husbands name after our marriage.

Anybody else in the same situation? Did you/your wife experience any scrutiny/questions asked during AOS/ROC for this? Any other issues (immigration or non-immigration related) I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance :-)

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Not a big deal

My wife didnt take my last name. we had aos and roc interview and no one mentioned that.

Thanks for your quick and positive replies both :-)

I just see so many people on here asking HOW to change their names. I was worried I would be "the only one" not doing it, provoking suspicion about our relationship ;-)

Nope. In many cultures the female doesn't change her name. Personally I won't do it because of a bad experience changing my name back post divorce.

I did no take my wife's name, not a problem.

We have actually discussed doing that. The only issue is his son. His ex-wife has remarried and now has a new last name. If my fiance changes his name to mine, then his son would be the only one with a different name. And my fiance doesn't want that to cause issues for his son.

Tell your husband to take your name and really throw them all. Maybe just get an interview waiver at that point. LOL

I am the Beneficiary

Same in morocco

the woman keeps her maiden name

I, the US citizen, am not changing as that means so many places

IRS

Deed to house

titles to vechicles

driving licence

passport

income checks

insurance such as health, life, dental and car and homeowners insurance

with my children from my late husband i want to keep the same name as theirs

all this made me realize it is much easier to keep my former name

i have a friend in Alabama that took both last names and combined them

the US seems to accept whatever we decide to do
