Hi guys,

I have my K1 interview on Friday in London. For those who have already had theres, what did you wear/did others seem to be wearing? Unsure if to wear a job interview style outfit or just be smart casual with a dress and blazer?

Thanks!

I did not wear a dress, thought it might cause confusion.

I went with smart casual. Does not really matter, they are not assessing your wardrobe.

Haha, thanks!

I know they're not assessing wardrobe, but also know they are making a judgement on a few papers and 10 minutes of meeting you so rather didn't want to look out of the ordinary or give them any reason to judge badly!

The video says no phones or electronic key fobs, etc are allowed inside. They changed that and you no longer have to check those somewhere. Also you will pay and schedule the courier in advance, so no stop at the courier desk before you leave. Your interview day procedure will be very much like shown, except those questions seen are more for a student visa and they will ask you about your fiance...how did you meet, what does he do for a living, have you met his family yet...easy conversational type questions.

I showed up in a fitted knitted sweater and a pair of jeans. I was clean and neat, but I wanted to be comfortable. I saw a lot worse in the waiting room.

All the best for your interview. Nearly there :)

I must admit I considered a tight dress with heels but the wife wouldn't let me!

There is no dress code whatsoever, I went in posh jeans, a shirt and jacket

But there were tatty trainers/hoodies/ripped jeans up to pinstripe suits

Whatever you feel comfy and happy in

My husband wore his business shirt and pants but no full suit. I wanted him to look his best.

I'd rather him look respectable at a place as official as an embassy than look like he just rolled out of bed. An embassy isn't your local trip to an American Wally-world.

Ah that! Strangely enough, though British, the hubby does not use that term. He said it never made one bit of sense to him. I think it's a regional thing.

But you're right, I'd of paid to see that. :P

Begs the question of where he comes from?
