hi to all i just want to ask .I got my EAD arrived last Feb.01, 2007 and that day i go to the SSN local office

just to filed a SSN of mine then until now I still dont get my SSN. My question is can I work/apply a job even

though I still dont have SSN ? thanks if somebody can answer this....

No, you need an ssn.

Unless of course you have a taxpayer ID Number

The Social Security office gave my husband a letter stating he had applied for a SSN and that was good enough for the place he ended up getting a job at.

On the I-9, it says that you have 90 days to submit any missing documents i.e. the SSN, not so? This is of course, providing that you can show it has been applied for. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

This is what it says under page 1, section 2:

Employers must complete Section 2 by examining evidence ofidentity and employment eligibility within three (3) business days ofthe date employment begins. If employees are authorized to work,but are unable to present the required document(s) within threebusiness days, they must present a receipt for the application of thedocument(s) within three business days and the actual document(s)within ninety (90) days. However, if employers hire individuals for aduration of less than three business days, Section 2 must becompleted at the time employment begins.

You're right, go ahead and look for work. I'd also contact SS because you should have received your card by now.
