Atheist's by definition don't believe in God.

Jesus did. He was Jewish. If he existed.

Atheist's can be right wing or left wing. Socialist or capitalist. Assuming atheists are always liberals is ignorant.

Not so sure about that, as I know many Jews(including myself), or even Christians(including my wife) or Muslims, that do not necessarily believe in organized religion, or at least not their organized religion, and would have loved to have the opportunity to change some of the practices of that particular religion if they were Jesus - all the while still believing in A God or a higher power at the very least.

You don't have to believe in religion to believe in god.

What always got me was the full on alcohol phobia, absolute craziness over alcohol in the Baptist churc, even though the bible in no way forbids alcohol and Jesus drank lots of wine.

I have known church members that were straight out sexual deviates, who would freak out if someone had liquor in the home

This actually reminds me of something that happened here about a year ago not far from where I am.

A restaurant took down a sign that said "yield for bacon" because it offended a Muslim.

Needless to say, that's not a restaurant I will go to.

Last week, Sneakers Bistro and Cafe removed a sign reading "Yield for Sneakers Bacon" from a garden at the Winooski Rotary after a woman who described herself as "a vegan and a member of a Muslim household" called the sign offensive in a post onFront Porch Forum.

"Given the large number of Muslim families in Winooski, as well as many others who do not eat pork for a variety of reasons, it seems unnecessary for this insensitive business sign to be at the city's main crosswalk," she wrote. The woman also complained that the sign "clutters an already dangerous crosswalk."

It got there as part of "Operation Bloom."

A city program put it in place to keep its flower beds beautiful. If businesses do some gardening they can post an advertisement where they do it, but the word "bacon" on the Sneakers Bistro sign started a discussion about diversity on the Winooski Front Porch Forum.

It started with a post from one woman who wrote that the sign was insensitive to those who do not consume pork. She said as a vegan living in a Muslim household she is personally offended by it.

The owners of Sneakers spoke to WPTZ. They say they've reached out to the individual who made the post and proactively took the sign down. They also say they regret any harm caused by the sign, and that their goal was never to cause stress or bad feelings.
