Hi

I have citizenship interview tomorrow 8 am but today received called from lady around 12 and she said she is calling from local uscis office and they didn't get my file yet so they are going to reschedule my interview and I will receive notice in few days.

After that I called to uscis help line just for verification and they said they don't have any such information in their system but some time local offices do call and inform like this.

So what is advice for me? shall i wait or go for interview tomorrow.

I think going in tomorrow would only cause you to miss a day at work. It is unfortunate, but I've seen many similar postings here. Not much that you can do about it.

I'd be grateful that they at least took the time to inform you ahead of time. It seems in similar situations, nine times out of ten you simply find out when you go to your interview that it isn't happening. At least this way you aren't wasting your time tomorrow. And she's right in that if they don't have your A-file then you cannot be interviewed.

It's somewhat asinine that they still ship paper files around the country, instead of scanning them into a centralised intake facility and then letting any office who needs to see them have access to a digital copy. Do they not understand it's 2015?

You are allowed to do so, yes. Many on this site would advise against it as it can introuduce much delay to the process. If you decide to reschedule, make a copy of the Interview letter, and send it along with an explaination to the address at the bottom of the interview notice.

Can I reschedule the interview because I have booked vacation on the same date?

Ha .. there was a great article in the Washington Post about this very issue. USCIS operates on very outdated technology and they would need a complete overhaul to digitize all of their records, application forms and convert to e-filing. The cost is estimated upwards of THREE BILLION DOLLARS. This is in addition to the ONE BILLION DOLLARS they have already spent over the last five years. So my guess ... the paper files will be around for awhile :goofy:

Filed: Timeline

A few years back they already increased the application fee from $180 to $680. Looks like they will have to increase it to $6,800 in order to pay for new technology.

I personally know someone work for USCIS and got to know they will be implementing the digital files very soon (around end of year) but it may increase the processing times (which I do not understand why).
