K-1 spouse, confused about the process going forward

So I came to the US and got married etc and have filed my AOS paperwork.

Until I get my green card (2 years from now?) am I classified as a legal alien the entire time? Is it only when you get the green card that you are a permanent resident?

Does this mean that I have to wait three years more from receiving the green card to apply for US citizenship?

Where are you getting 3 years from to get your green card?

As a result of the Adjustment of Status process, you will be issued a permanent resident card. There will be a 'resident since' date on that card. 3 years from that date (minus 90 days) you may petition for citizenship.

A resident alien is any foreigner who has permanent resident status. I guess the opposite would be a non-resident alien right?

Oh I see, so it's three years from the residence date.. does that mean the date I came to the US or the date I married or filed for the AOS or what? Sorry this is confusing me haha

the date your AoS is approved

as for your GC you will get a conditional GC and need to remove the conditions after 2 years, when that is approved you will get a 10 year GC

Oh okay, thanks for the information guys. Wow that's a long haul.

When I got approved for my visa, the consulate gave me a piece of paper with instructions and it said that I would be a permanent resident from the time I entered the US. I wish they wouldn't give misinformation.

Sounds like you got the form for spousal visas. A spouse will enter with visa (cr/Ir) and will become a PR as soon as they cross into the US.

It works different for K1 holders
