Do I need to translate all evidence I am submitting? For example receipts for gold jewelry for the wedding, wedding ring receipts, receipts for other wedding expenses, etc. It appears that the USIC requires everything to be translated, but the HCMC consulate says evidence can be in Vietnamese or English. Please read attachments.

You need to guide yourself by the rules of the place where you will be using those documents. If you send to USCIS, then only send English or English translations. If you send to your local consulate, then English or Vietnamese. I used English and English translations for USCIS and English or Dutch documents for my local consulate. So far so good.

When I sent my I-129F in, I also submitted the ring receipt in Vietnamese without any translation; I simply stated that that is the receipt for the rings, and did not receive any RFE about it.

They probably didn't consider it crucial evidence, otherwise they would have sent an RFE. They could approve the petition without that document. Moreover, a receipt is a receipt. Pretty self explanatory when you look at one, no matter the language.

Things submitted to the consulate don't need to be translated. Documents that NVC and the service center needs must be translated. So no, you don't need to translate receipts. Label them if you want. I put a few receipts on a page and then gave a short description when needed.

I was planning of front loading the petition with all my evidence. So even though some of the documents are intended for the consulate, they will be submitted at the beginning.

I agree its probably not crucial, but if you can't read the receipt you don't know what was purchased.

Correct, those front loaded items are intended for the consulate and they aren't required by any of the forms. Things like divorce certificates, marriage certificates, official documents need to be translated as the service centers and the NVC don't have native speakers there unlike the embassies and consulates.

Only documents are needed translation. All evidence of relationship needs to be as is, i.e txt msgs, chat logs, receipts. Make sure you have all your evidence. You can find what is needed on here or on the forum, but what I had was receipts, pictures organized in 3 sections, before (dating), wedding photos, and after wedding. Chat logs, I only had FB, about 300 pages. I didnt print out imessage conversation because it would take 10 light years to do a screen print, and I didnt save a lot of then anyways. But I had a couple screen shots but never printed them. The interviewer only asked to see our dating pictures. Hope that helped.

May 7, 2014 - I-130 sent to Chicago, IL Lockbox

May 12, 2014 - Case recieved at Chicago, IL.

May 13, 2014 - Case accepted. Received LIN#. Case forwarded to USCIS, Nebraska. i-797 hard copy received shortly after.

Thanks that helps. I want to send some of the chat logs. Obviously like most people there are too many pages to print, so I am trying to decide the best way to do that chat logs. I am thinking maybe just send a few pages worth to show that we have been talking for a long time.

Opinions about the quantity of evidence vary widely. My wife and I created a lovely book, annotated and full of evidence (translated and otherwise). The consulate in Saigon didn't give it a look. That said, it's only one couple's experience...nothing more, nothing less. Now that I think about it, the book really was a masterpiece of organization and testament to our document retention skills.

And yes, any official document for NVC was translated into English (with all of the correct testaments to the translators skill, etc.).

Best of luck!
