Is this new? I didn't think we were able to do this yet.

I'm finally getting the final stages of my package ready and I noticed this on the Canberra Embassy website:

Important Changes to Immigrant Visa Processing in 2015

If you are applying for an IR1, IR2, IR5, CR1 or CR2 immigrant visa, you now have the option to submit your civil documents, Affidavit of Support, and financial evidence electronically. We anticipate that submitting these documents electronically will make the process quicker and more user friendly.

...

Has anyone done this for Aus yet? Is there still certain things you need to send by mail?

I'm confused about this - as for the IR-1/CR-1 visa, we don't ever directly submit documents to Canberra at all! I wonder if they are talking about the fact that you can now submit these documents to NVC electronically, and the sentence is badly worded.

IR-1/CR-1 visa are dealt with ONLY at the Sydney Consulate.

The section of the website I quoted was only a small part. If you follow the link there is more detail. They don't mention submitting to Canberra at all so I'm not sure where you saw that? If you follow the links in the paragraph on their website it takes you to the NVC submit documents page.

I think I'll give it a go. Worst that can happen is they'll ask for the documents to be physically mailed right?
