That is cool that you are allowed to bring your pets so easily. I always thought you had to have them quarantined for like 2 weeks or so before they'll let you take them.

I HATE miles, gallons, pints, words spelled without u's, and all that other jazz...

I brought enough canned food to last 2 weeks and a full large bag of dried food - 2 different brands since one ate only one version of one brand (and doesn't eat canned at all - so fussy!) - and then the quality food that the others ate. I knew I needed enough food on hand to switch them over to local brands if I couldn't find the food they were used to. As it was the US version of the food my fussy one ate wasn't the same formulation so I ended up trying small samples of a variety of dry foods before I found one she would eat. Fortunately, it is better quality than the one we weaned her of off:-). We were not questioned about any of the items we were bringing in, including pet food, even though I had everything inventoried. We drove so I don't know if the same would count if you are flying. Good luck with your travels.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thanks. I'm only bringing dry food anyway.

My dog is going to have a hard time as it is adjusting. Another dog (she HATES other dogs), being outside for more then 2 minutes (she HATES leaving the apt or going for walks) and being outside most of the day. We have a house out in the country. I know she'll like the drive, she's great in the car. I've been taking the cat with me when I have to drive my daughter somewhere and he just scoots up right beside the dog and has a great time.

I have the worldest biggest wuss of a german shepard *sigh*, scared of everyone and everything, cept other dogs UGHHHHHHH but she does love my SO :)

if you're bringing food with you, make sure the bag says that it's manufactured in the US or they will NOT let it across. i had the same question when i called the border the other day (i plan to cross at pembina, north dakota) and the lady i spoke with greatly emphasized this. i'd also keep the food in the bag (obviously), and easy to get at so you can prove that it is legit to go across with you.

just wanted to lend this piece of knowledge :)

I have to buy some tomorrow, I'll check on where it's made. I did see I can buy it down there so hopefully it's the same.

I had *way* too much food for them when I crossed (I had no idea it would be a problem). They let it slide though for me.
