I have a question I'm planning to petition my father, he lives in Colombia. so once I file I-130 and if he gets approve with a visa, what are the next procedures? does he need to do his medical exam in Colombia and when he comes to US, do I need to file form i-485 or will uscis send it once he is in US....... Please advice ! :luv:

When USCIS approves your petition he will have to go to the consulate/embassy in Colombia to complete the process for the immigrant visa, once he enters the US he will receive his green card.

You will not need to file I-485, that is only used when the parent is legally in the US and you want to petition for them.

21 Aug 2013: I-129F Sent

11 Feb 2014: Visa APPROVED!

20 May 2014: Wedding!

31 Jul 2014: Mailed AOS Packet

12 Feb 2015: AOS Interview - Approved

22 Feb 2017: Mailed ROC Packet

08 Aug 2018: ROC Approved
