San Diego filer here.

NOA1 Date: November 5th

We are rapidly approaching 6 months since our last update from USCIS (December 31st - Ready to schedule interview)... and still nothing. Just wondering what the appropriate steps are when we hit the 6 months mark? Can I book an infopass now or do I need to wait until the actual 6 month mark? Or will they not even talk to us because San Diego is still technically processing 'September 19th as of March 31st."

Adjusting status from F-1 to Permanent Resident. Married since July 06, 2015.

Hey monkiwiland,

I am also in San Diego. With the exact same NOA1 date as you - November 5th.

I actually havent had an update since December 9th, so also 6 months.
In my experience so far - they will not talk to you because we are still 'within normal processing time' since they are processing September 19th.

Now having said that, they havent updated their site yet for the month, but I suspect it will be a mid-October update for processing AT BEST. Which means we'll have to wait another month at least.
I am also trying to figure out my options and I'll call them again in the next few days if they don't update their website, because if I don't get my interview before september of this year, I have to re-start the whole 485 process again because my medical will expire and I need to renew my canadian passport. Needless to say, I'm pretty antsy.

#######. Just got an rfe for the vaccination supplement. I'm super pissed.

Too big to be attached but it says:

"Please submit i693 (report of medical examination and vaccination record) medical supplement with the vaccine "varicella" performed by a civil surgeon."

Do you guys agree it's just the vaccination sheet they want? Btw he has varicella history checked on his ds3025.

You probably need to submit the I-693 with Parts 1, 2, 4 & 7 completed by a Civil Surgeon. I am pretty sure yuna628 just had the same issue, and she was just approved today! So you may want to check with her on what she submitted to complete the RFE. Seems many of us got this issue at the very end, and once the RFE was responded to, approval came quickly. So you may be close, once you complete this part.

Good Luck!

Thanks. I've been following yuna and chaz's rfes because we went through London at the same time and I had a suspicion I would get the same rfe.

My rfe is worded somewhere in between theirs though. It's not as clear as yuna's but not as vague as chaz's since it does mention the supplement and varicella vaccine specifically. Makes me wonder why they would single out varicella.

Also the rfe was issued the same day our congress liaison inquired about the status. Sorta wishing I hadn't poked the bear!

I would agree that it's just the vax supplement (if you go by the book rules it should be).. the thing is the wording of it throws me. Sounds like you got an absolute idiot reviewing the case if they are talking about varicella being needed if the DS-3025 was filled out correctly. So odd that it says ''medical supplement'' and not ''vaccine supplement'' though. O_o

Things we sent in:

I-693 vax supplement

the I-693 rules highlighting the K1 portion in neon just in case they didn't believe us or they were too stupidz.

A strongly worded letter talking about the rules, explaining that we had sent in a DS3025 already and didn't understand why it wasn't accepted, and acknowledging that we had sent the above I-693 in response.

If it were me I'd do the vax supplement with a CS (ask the CS if they see anything wrong with the DS3025 that might have led the officer to think you needed a vaccine which you absolutely don't). I'd not only throw at them the I-693 rules, but the I-485 rules, the vaccination rules, and the rules of how it should be reviewed.

I can tell you on his DS3025 varicella has been ticked. But for the I-693 the civil surgeon will fill out the form completely differently with a ''VH'' and no tickbox, and you'll have the blanket waiver box checked too. How much time did they give you for this? You could try to go through a congressperson to figure out what is exactly wanted. I bet you this idiot is looking for a VH or something stupid like that.

I have thought that myself. But in the end, who do you send that complaint too, and who will listen. Sorry you have to go through all that nonsense. The inconsistency of the entire process is what bothers me the most. Time is one thing. If we all are on the same track and there is consistency in the processing, then waiting is easier. But when the whole process is inconsistent, that's what drives us all crazy!

We are hoping once you get this done, your approval is coming soon thereafter!

JB

Well, maybe their Ombudsman. No point in complaining to the office that reviewed the case as they've already shown they don't play by the rules and will probably try and brush it under the carpet. And yes, the inconsistency (and incompetency) is what is most frustrating. However, this forum has proven to be such a godsend from the start of the K1 and all through the AOS process. We've all been sharing our experiences and helping each other, and with real time experiences we've all helped others to know just what should or shouldn't be happening. The resources and camaraderie here has been invaluable. I can't imagine going through this process on my own - who would have known to contact the local Congressmen for instance? Thanks to VJ, that was a route I found I could take, and though I'm being stung with this RFE and medical/ vaccination issue, at least my case seems to have moved for the first time in six months.

Here's hoping it won't be long before I can join the rest of you in becoming a green card holder!

Sounds like more USCIS incompetence to me. Yes, it does sound as if they just want the vaccination part filled in by a Civil Surgeon. Make sure you get all other parts completed though (except the full medical parts - but do submit the COMPLETE form, including any unfilled pages).

Latest update on my case.

I had my SECOND medical done today courtesy of the local county Health Dept., though the medical is actually in two parts with the second part completed on a subsequent visit. They checked my vaccination worksheet and transcribed it on to their form (they gave me a copy). Interesting that they mentioned that the TDAP is a requirement for the medical when done in the USA, and I only had the TD done recently. They said they'd still tick the TDAP box for me to save me having to pay for another vaccine (woo!)

I then had a rather rudimentary vision and hearing test done, along with height and weight, blood pressure and temperature. I was also asked about drugs and alcohol, any hereditary/ current/ long term health issues and also whether I'd had any mental health issues. Of course, I remembered my "training" for the Knightsbridge medical and gave them the answers that they wanted (not that I had anything to hide).

Then I had blood taken for the blood test, and in a departure from Knightsbridge, they required a urine test (for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea) . There is no chest x-ray, as the blood test is for TB and Syphilis. If the TB tests positive, then you are required to have a chest x-ray and treatment.

And that was it. My appointment for the second part is for next Monday, when I will see the Civil Surgeon, get all my results and if all is clear, I will get the completed I-693 in a sealed envelope. I will then have this expedited overnight to USCIS (obviously with a signature on delivery), and then I will wait to hear from that wretched office for hopefully the last time. Or at least until ROC.

I was told that my medical would cost $150, which sounded too good to be true (I was quoted that by other CS's just to have the vaccinations transcribed). I will find out for sure if any extra charges are added when I return next week. One thing worth bearing in mind is that I found these Civil Surgeons at the local country health department, which means they aren't trying to squeeze every last $$$ out of you compared with private Civil Surgeons. Anyone else in my situation, try and find a county health department with Civil Surgeons as it could save you quite a bit.

Now I just have to wait until next week and can then hopefully get this medical/ vaccination fiasco sorted and put behind me once and for all.

Hey monkiwiland,

I am also in San Diego. With the exact same NOA1 date as you - November 5th.

I actually havent had an update since December 9th, so also 6 months.

In my experience so far - they will not talk to you because we are still 'within normal processing time' since they are processing September 19th.

I am also trying to figure out my options and I'll call them again in the next few days if they don't update their website, because if I don't get my interview before september of this year, I have to re-start the whole 485 process again because my medical will expire and I need to renew my canadian passport. Needless to say, I'm pretty antsy.

My passport has been expired for 3yrs (canadian) and file with an expired CDN passport so that doesnt matter.. you would just need a new medical

you do not need the do the entire i485 over again.

I am in LA and i am surprised yours took you that long? Also, i wouldnt worry about a new medical - you can still renew your EAD/AP and you can still get a new passport - if you need to travel. IF You go until september with an expired medical you dont need to worry about that until you get your interview and then do a new medical and bring that new medical to your interview so you dont get an RFE at the interview :) so i would NOT take the medical again (if it expires) until you have an interview date and then do the new medical and bring that to the interview with you!!! you DO NOT need a new i485!!!!! inbox me if you have quesitons.

Hello my dear Forum people. I wrote on here like 3 weeks ago and now just bringing you an update. Last time I contacted uscis on May 18, they told me that my case wasnt moving at all due to overload, but eventually someone was gonna take a look at it. On May 18th I put a Inquiry due to my case filed on Nov 2015, with a Rfe on Dec, replied a week after to that Ref and sent it right away. Since then havent heard anything back. Im on Houston, Tx, contacted that office by making an Infopass Appointment, IO told me oh your case is here since March, probably soon they will contact you, so all the excitement started it on us. Now after some time, being June 9th, I decided to contact the Uscis, they told me they couldnt give me an answet because they dont see anything on my case.

While this phonecall was going, they told me to wait because they would contact me to the NBC Missouri where my case is. So I was like, what happened to that your case is in Houston already, but right after the call went off. Same day called later, spoke to another person just for them to tell me that due to overload on cases, they are starting to send most cases with Rfe to Newark, Nj..smh.

Today being June 13 I think, idk Im so lost with days specially when im ready to travel to my homecountry in almost 6 more days, Uscis sent me a letter saying that NOW my Report for Medical Examination is not valid anymore due to them not accepting some forms with certain dates like 03/30/2015 or 2011, i dont know. As ya'll can imagine Im going throu so many emotions. Happiness because yay finally someone took interest on my case, Mad because ive been nagging for so long on whats missing, you guys need anything updated, and no one told me ANYTHING, and now as seen I'll have to scratch some money and have my sons and my medical examination re done. I dont know what to say or think, this journey has been exhausting, painful in every single way and expensive. Now Does anyone has any experience like that, or filed in Houston and end it up on Newark, NJ, or at the worst after you turned your Report Examamination, how soon you got an answer or your green card. Also do you think guys I will have to attend an interview there. Thank you and My apologies for such a huge letter, but Im in great need of sharing this situation. God Bless each of you!
