Congrats to the recent approvals!!!

I have a question for anyone that's done this already, how long did it take for your social security card to have a name change?

I keep getting the most ridiculous responses of oh six weeks when on my letter it said four and no matter who ispeak to I get no straight answer!

Just wanted to see if anyone is in the same boat

I'm screwed waiting for it coz the driving test center won't let me take the test without the actual card :( one wait after another !

I've got my card exactly 7 days after I applied for a name change. It shouldn't take 6 weeks, that would be ridiculous! DMV shouldn't be asking you for your social security card because first of all, they have a database where they can see your name changed by the Social Security Administration (I was told that by both local SSA and DMV offices). Second, you technically don't have to have an SSN in order to get a driver's license. I was an F1 student with no SSN when I got mine.

You can try to go into a different DMV or SSA office, maybe they would have people who would actually know how to deal with non-citizen cases. I usually go to a different county's DMV office because I know that people in that office are better qualified than people in my county's DMV.

Thank you for the response!

I know it wouldn't take 6 weeks but that's the amount of time they have before my ssc office can follow up which is ridiculous ):

Nothing I can do apparently either which sucks

And I'll definitely try that the office I went to didn't have a clue about how to do it so thank you for that! :)

Feel like there's always something going against us

The support here tho really helps :)

Hello guys, my interview is going to be on the 28th March and I would like to ask who already had theirs about the I-693 medical form.

Did you went to a civil surgeon to do that transfer thing about vaccination? Did you take physical, too? I already did the full medical+vaccination in my home country, I have a proof about vaccination, however the sealed envelope with my full medical details in it, was taken by the officer at the border when I arrived. I have read a few posts about this and I think I shouldn't redo the physical, but I am still confused: how should I prove at the interview that I took my medicals back home? It's very likely that they have my records (I haven't got any RFEs about medicals when I applied for the green card), but still... What if they lost it or something? It's USCIS...

Thanks in advance for any responses!

GC finally arrived yesterday. Hoping for a quick and smooth ride for everyone else.

I have a pending i131, should I let it take it course? Since GC supercedes AP I wouldn't want my case holding up other cases when I don't need AP no more.

Thanks,

I have still not received my EAD.

My NOA for my EAD is November 19th 2015.

I submitted my RFE for an I 864 2 weeks ago and on my case info, it just says that they will start again on my case.

I had to called a few times along with putting in a service request and an info pass appointment to eventually find out what my RFE was for.

I received no information on my sheet to tell me what was the problem until I made an info pass and then I had to resend an I 864 showing evidence of financial support.

I am on a tourist visa not a k1 visa so I always wonder is this the problem..

no it doesnt matter what visa you enter on.. every time you get an RFE they are just slow.. k1 or b2 it is the same..you should have recieved your EAD and lots of people adjust from a visitor visa.. i think they are just slow but you should have your EAD... i would make an info pass for that or you can inquire online i think and ask where it is?

No updates for me yet either. Latest update was on 11/17/15 "fingerprint fee received".

I wish I would of gotten the EAD! We were told it this process wouldn't take more than 3 months. ?

Does anyone know if there's a different forum for AOS adjusting without the EAD to get a better idea of how long

We will have to wait?

you are confused.. it does not matter if you are adjusting with or without the EAD! the EAD is a separate applicaiton.. basically, your process takes as long as it does for the Greencard and then a sperate application is for the EAD.. so just look at the area you are applying.. basically what state you are in and how fast those applicationsa re going.. and you shoudl have applied for a work permit! it takes 5min to fill out the form and the work permit is almost 100% guaranteed to get in 3 months and ANYTHING can go wrong with the GC

you can send in another applicaiton for the EAD and it will be free you will just have to pay another $70 biometric fee.
