Congrats! I received the notification of approval this week now waiting the EAD card itself to travel abroad. Was it delivered to your address or to your lawyer's (if you have one)? Also, did your case status changed to card in production or any information about mailing or after the approval information you just received the EAD card after 4 days? I am waiting for mine also from MO to FL. Hope it arrives fast!! Thanks!

Thanks. it was sent to our home address. We did not use an attorney for the 485 & EAD. The Case status changed from Approved, to Card Sent. But there was a case history note that the card was requested to be produced. We did not get a tracking number case update until it was changed to Card Delivered. So I already had the card, when they gave us the tracking number. So, yes, 4 days after we got the update that card was sent, it was in the mailbox. Hope you have yours soon!

Timeline

On my side I'm still waiting on the interview date, my 485 hasn't been updated since November.

On a different note, I just went out of the country for a week and used my EAD/AP card to come back to the US yesterday. I arrived at JFK, the immigration line can be hours long and then I heard many times that AP card automatically leads to second screening - and this can last for hours depending on how many people are waiting in the second screening room (a friend spent 4 hours in there!!).

Anyway all went super smoothly for me. They first checked my AP card a couple of times at check in and boarding I'm France, it looked like the gate agents had not seen those very often. Then at JFK, the immigration agent asked a few questions, and explained me that with that document second screening is mandatory so he took be to the "backroom". Fortunately it was almost empty, I was expecting to be questioned but nothing!! An agent typed on his computer for 5-10 minutes, called my name and gave me my documents back. There is a special stamp in my passport now that says that I've been advance paroled, it looks very different than the usual one.

In conclusion if you get your AP card and are not required to travel internationally, I would say wait for the GC as it shouldn't be that long anymore... I got super lucky this time, but most people I know who did it spent hours in there.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I see that your AOS is due to marriage as well. Do you know if if makes any difference if you were traveling with your USC spouse or not? I will travel internationally with my AP soon so I just wanted to be prepared. Thank you!

I was actually traveling solo. However you are right, I know some people for whom it made a difference (one of them was asked why his wife wasn't traveling with him... Go get it!). The only thing that they asked is where my husband is, and I said he's home and that's it. I guess that once again it all comes down to the agent you're dealing with. You'll be fine :).

Interview was a breeze with my charming wife. Lots of chit chat between them [ mostly she interviewed him than he interviewed us ], questions to her on I-130. questions to me on I485. I was asked how we met, who proposed and her mom's name.

All work into documents for nothing as we were only asked to give my passport, our IDs, my SSN. He took my EAD card as am on H1B. Approved + ordered the card on the spot and said should get GC in mail in 10 days if not get infopass. End of interview given a book on American civics, letter.

Finally relieved as doc work is too much for me.

Congrats to guys who already got approved and awaiting progress in their case. Guess talk to you all next thanksgiving to remove conditions.
