Hey everyone - update here.

I just checked my mail today and I received an I-485 interview letter for March 16th in Mt Laurel, NJ.

The USCIS website (actually the entire system) seems so unorganized for me. My I-485 status hasn't changed since Nov. 18th and still shows Fingerprint Fee Received, even though I have the appointment letter now. My I-131 AP status changed to RFE the same day that my I-765 EAD changed to Card was Mailed, however I received a combo card for both EAD and AP in the mail a few days later. I called USCIS about this and they submitted a service request to find out about the real I-131 status 9 days ago and it has still not been assigned for processing. I recently received the I-797 that also says both are approved.

Meanwhile, the DMV is telling me that my EAD isn't verifying in SAVE and they have submitted a case inquiry to USCIS also about that. There is one more business day left in that time frame to respond, but I don't have my hopes up (lol). So I am still stuck with a Canadian license. I am worried that this problem with my EAD will affect me applying for jobs :(

Summary: I wish USCIS was perfectly perfect!

With EAD, you can get a social security number; then DMV will use the SSN information for verification. That was how we did it.

Hi guys,

I have a question. On what ground can I send an expedite request for my EAD? And how exactly do I do that?

https://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria

You can call the USCIS and the rep can submit one. The most common for AOS filers is that they have a pending job offer that is about to expire. The request is assigned to an officer, who looks over the evidence and makes the decision.

I would just take the SSN card to the DMV and tell them to use that info. Maybe go to a different DMV office; you may get better service there...

Is your SSN in your maiden name? They made me change mine to my married name to match the EAD and I'm just waiting on that to get my license... if you have those both in your married name you should try going to the DMV in Mt. Holly, they are pretty helpful / not stupid most of the time

4/21/2016 - Got green card! :) No immigration worries til 2018!

Hello All,

I filed i131 separate and package was received yesterday by USCIS. I filed i485 and i765 NOA Nov. 25, EAD card has been received last week. Does anyone know if I still have to do biometrics for AP eventhough it was done for EAD and i485 in late december?

Thanks,

We filed our I-131 with the AOS package. I don't think that biometrics are required with AP because our biometrics letter was only for the GC and the EAD. Also, the VJ timelines only have a spot for biometrics on the GC and EAD. I'm not 100% sure, but those are my reasons why I don't think you need biometrics.

Hey Filers,

So we went to the AOS interview and I think it went well but I did not get a decision on the spot. Let me tell you a little about the interview. We got there on time and a IO came to get us. She put us under oath, and immediately said: Do you have any questions for me? We said no. She then later said: "well, I will not be able to give you a decision on the spot today because on of our systems of the department of state has been down for about a week. This interview will not really be focusing on your marriage because you have been married for 3 years, you have a baby and I have no doubt about bona fide. We will talk about your immigration past (Me)".

I came to the U.S in 2001 seeking political asylum and it was denied. We appealed the decision but it was denied. I was given voluntary departure of the United States and I did. I went to Canada and they approved my asylum. I got my Canadian permanent residence and applied for a U.S Visa. They gave it to me with no issues in 2007. Later in 2012 I got married with a USC and I got an F1 to go to college for my masters in Kentucky. 2 years later I applied for AOS. Because I was under removal proceedings (voluntary departure) she needed to check with the Department of State system, that my situation was ok and cleared. But those websites were apparently down and she said she will send me the decision later on. At the end she did say that our marriage was approved but once the system is up and running then they will let me know.

It sucks that they didn't check these stuff before the interview! and that the systems were down. Now I do not know how long it will take to get an answer from them, or when should I expect a response. Its such a bummer. We were so exited to get this out of our lives. I guess now the positives are that our marriage was found bona fide, we got the interview and I have a EAD. Now its just a matter of waiting.

All the best for all of the cases and interviews!

I believe the biometrics is done only once for both AP and EAD. So if you already had your biometrics taken, I believe that was it but I am no expert on this. Learning through the process.
