Bogi&Nick is right, you should check if you got a RFE for initial or additional evidence, that's where the difference is in terms of stopping and resuming the clock, or resetting it completely.

It was initial - they claimed the evidence submitted didn't suggest my wife earned enough (125% of the poverty guidelines). She does, and we include copies of her contract and paystubs to prove that. I think they saw her tax return from the 2014 tax year and said she doesn't earn enough because she didn't in 2014 but did/does now. They are supposed to go on current income, but ignored our evidence for that and didn't even reference it.

Secondly they also asked for my wife's accompanying tax documents when, according to both the instructions for the form (and advice on here as a backup) that sending the tax transcript is sufficient - it was either that or a full tax return with accompanying documents.

In other words, it seems like something of a mistake, even if I can understand the oversight on point 1.

An attorney friend of ours who deals with immigration cases (we didn't feel we needed one/can't really afford one) didn't think it should affect the EAD processing time at the time but guess they were wrong!

I'm not complaining, but it is frustrating. However, it is what it is so just need to be patient for a little while longer!

I totally feel your pain cause I'm on the same boat. There is no possible way to explain the amount of frustration and anxiety that the USCIS processes cause. You feel like your life has stopped and it's on the hands of god knows who and on the discretion of someone else to press the "resume your life" button. It's so inhumane but as you said we need to bulk up on patience...

01/27/2016: Put a expedition request with USCIS.

01/28/2016: Put in a request to aide the expedition with the Congressman.

01/29/2016: Expedite Request was assigned to an officer.

In all honesty, in the long run, this temporary frustration will seem exactly that.
