Yes, Nationality should be "FIL" for Filipino. Since PHIL is Philippines. So quite weird for nationality to be Philippines. Not sure thoug, I think I'm just overthinking.

If you are a PI citizen, then yes it's normal.

If you are citizen of another country, then it's not normal.

Whats not normal is a citizen from the Phillipines is a Filipino. I think the its just the whole Ph / F thing in English. Highly doubt an issue. I think on one form it said USA and another I put American.

Forgive for my questioning but I want to know why you think "PHIL" is abnormal for you who is a Philippine Citizen to be in a legal document. Am I missing something here?

Hi GB, it's alright. This is what my Visa looks like

Country: PHIL

Nationality: PHIL

Shouldn't it be "Nationality: FIL"? So nationality would read as Filipino or something similar but not PHIL for Philippine? Maybe I'm just overthinking things. I just think it's quite odd to say my nationality is PHIL(Phillippines). Thanks for your time.

Each country has adapted a synonym for their citizens, but for governments in need of a identifier the use of a three to four letter abbrv. is used. So they will stick with the common name for the country and not the citizen. So PHIL, USA, RUS etc.

I think you are kind of overthinking the process.
