hi guys! i'm moving to the USA on the 9th of December, i'm planning on taking all of my clothes and other stuff i'm going to need for the winter, then my mum and brother are coming to visit in march and they're going to bring the rest of my clothes for me.

ive sold alot of my belongings to raise more money for moving but there are still some things i would like to eventually have with me that i cant really put in a suitcase (household items, my pc ect)

i was wondering if anyone who had recently made the move had any advice for me on the best shipping companies and rough prices?

i dont have anything huge like furniture, just lots of small items that could easy be packed into a box

Thanks in advance!

I just had some small things as well, and I used Parcel Monkey. They use a lot of carriers like Parcel Force and DHL and give you a list of your options so you can choose which company to go for. I shipped a medium size box that weighed 8kg and it only cost £40 as opposed to sending it directly through the Parcel Force website which would cost more than double that. So yeah, they are worth a shot if it's just small stuff you have ;) You will still need to fill in a pro forma invoice that lists everything in the box and an estimated value (it explains all this on Parcel Monkey), but put at the top 'Personal Effects - No Commercial Value' at the top so they don't charge you customs. Mine said it would take 2-4 business days but ended up taking 2 weeks due to slow passage through customs, but it arrived in one piece and I didn't get charged anything.

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

I sent 2 massive suitcases with sendmybag.com - they made the whole process super easy. It was relatively cheap compared to the other companies I looked into and everything was securely delivered here in the US. Also, it's a fast shipping process as they use DHL.

Good luck and congratulations :)
