Hi everyone, we are gathering all the information for the interview. I have a couple of questions. How long does it take to get the Colombian police report? And birth certificate? I am unsure when to set the interview. Those are the only two thing my girlfriend has not done.

Thanks in advance,

My fiancee was able to get her Police Certificate in one day in Bogota. The birth certicate is a whole other animal. We needed one for her daughter. My fiancee had to travel to Tibu, where she is originally from, and go to the Registrar there to get an original copy. She got it in one day, but it was a 14-hour bus ride one-way to get to Tibu. On the bright side, she was able to see her mother and her family and made it a 3-day visit.

Police records can be downloaded here:

Copy of birth certificate will be issued same day at the notary where the Colombian citizen was registered by their parents.

You need an official police record, the one that you can download on line, won't do. The one you need can be gotten at a police station probably not the local one, but one near by. My novia lives in Palmira, and had to travel to Cali to get her Certifcado Judicial. It's a walk in, walk out kind of thing. The only thing that's hard is you may need more than one if your fiancée has lived in more than one city.

The birth certificate is also not hard, but as was earlier pointed out, it must be gotten from the city where your fiancée was born. In my case it was easy for her, because she still lived in the same city.

I'm not sure about this because in the packet 4 says that you can download it:
