Hello everyone! I have been trouble finding some information on a few things regarding the medical examination and interview process and was hoping to find some guidance here. My fiance lives in the UK and will be going down for the medical examination and interview process soon. We were wondering if anyone knows how early you need to show up at the medical examination as it says it is on a first come basis. We've heard of people showing up at 3am and it being a pretty big queue, but we've no way to confirm this.

She also was wondering what types of things they check. She's a bit nervous about the whole thing. She has mild social anxiety that she underwent CBT therapy for a while back and wasn't sure what to bring if anything as far as documentation. She also has a bit of scarring on her arms from around 17 years ago when she was a kid that she did and was worried about them getting the wrong idea about. Some other questions I had were about the 4 passport style photos that are required. Does anyone know of a place in the UK that can print photos at the US dimensions that are requested? Do I need to do an affidavit of support? I had red that that was required for the adjustment of status, but now I'm seeing it as a requirement for the interview process. My final question is if it is possible to do both the medical and interview in the same day. It's not cheap to get to the embassy from wher she lives and we want to make it as few trips as possible on top of all the fees for medical and the visa.

Thanks so much for reading, any advice at all would be very much appreciated!

1. I turned up for my medical about 20 minutes before my appointment time (10:30am) and was seen at about 10:35/40. It's not first come first serve with the medical at all. I believe what you've heard is more about the interview, I have mine in two weeks so I can't confirm this, but with my appointment at 9am i plan on arriving between 7.30 and 8am to queue, they won't let you in until 30 minutes before your appointment no matter how early you turn up.

2. Most passport photo kiosks (found in larger supermarkets and some newsagents around the UK) will give the US Visa size option, mine cost £7 for 4.

3. With regards to your fiancé's medical history, full disclosure is generally advisable. Make sure she gets a letter from her GP detailing any past conditions, make that the GP specifies that these conditions are no longer an issue. I'm certainly no expert on this, hopefully someone more experienced will be able to give you some more robust advice....

4. There are two types of Affidavit of Support - the I-864 and the I-134. The I-134 is what's required for the interview and can be found here: http://www.uscis.gov/i-134. You need to fill it in, sign it, and send it to her with supporting evidence. From what I know they won't accept scanned signatures so it has to be the original.

5. There have to be at least 5 working days between the medical and the interview to allow for the medical results to reach the embassy but you'd be incredibly lucky to get dates even this close together. Most people's are several weeks apart because the London embassy won't even schedule your interview until they have your medical results.

i'm not sure this is all factually accurate but is all gleaned from my personal experience! Hope it helps!

I'm not going to answer all your questions, but will guide you to places to do your own research since you said you were having trouble.

Medical:

No you do not line up. Make an appointment. All about the UK medical (with links) here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide-do-not-post-questions-in-thread/?p=6741228

Two trips to London. One for medical. One for interview.

Scars:

Here's someone with scars and some answers they received http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/470632-will-scars-from-being-a-teenager-hinder-fiance-in-medical-exam/

K1 instructions straight from London. Use a PC. Click all the links http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/fiance_instructions.html

K1 guide to London in this UK forum http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide-do-not-post-questions-in-thread/ Some links changed. Sorry. Still good explanations.

Affidavit of Support for K1 is I-134. You'll do another version (I-864) for adjustment of status.

Passport photos:

The medical place gladly accepts UK size for the four that go on the medical result pages for ID purposes. That leaves one U.S. size to turn in at the interview for the visa. Most Photo Me type booths in grocery or drug stores across the UK have a size option to pick US size. There's also US size available all around the Bond Street tube station and Oxford Street in London. That's the closest station to the embassy.

What do they check at the medical:

There's ten years of experiences in this thread. Jump in somewhere in 2014-2015
