This is going to sound strange, but this has always been a personal fear of mine. Whenever I put on any weight at at all I fear I will gain 300 pounds and not know I'm pregnant or something. I can't believe some poor woman has now actually experienced this. If she doesn't do something her poor kid probably won't have a mom. Just a dad who couldn't be bothered to go to the hospital and a quite...butch auntie.

LOL I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!

There was a story in the New Mexico papers about a hs senior who was an athlete who had a suprise birth 2 hours after a basketball game. And she wasn't fat!

My friend's roommate in Philadelphia actually had that happen! She was petite and she found out she was pregnant and a week later gave birth. She gave up the baby for adoption though!

A girl I went to hs claimed it happened to her as well. She gave birth in the toilet in college. Tragically, she drowned the baby & then used the 'I freaked out' excuse to get off from all charges.

I knew the father as well...he was fcuking devastated. Had no clue.

Wow. You can get off charges from drowning a baby? What's so wrong with going to the dayum hospital? I don't understand that.

I too was going "Wow, Luz is coming home and preggers!".

Now for the story, I can totally believe someone that obese would not know she was pregnant. Also, I remember a story about that basketball playing giving birth thing.

And one of my mom's friend was already in her menopause, over 50, and she felt she was gaining weight and her breasts were really sore, then when she felt something in her belly she was sure she had a tumor and went running to the doctor, only to find out she was 5 months pregnant. In her case since she was in menopause she didn't bother about the missing periods (which were already going anyway) and didn't think for a second she could be pregnant.

I think it's possible that she didn't know because of the things mentioned before, irregular periods, etc. She may not have been able to produce milk, a condition not exclusive to obese women. As for how she didn't feel it moving, the baby not have moved much. And morbidly obese women often have other medical (DUH) conditions which may led her to believe that she couldn't possibly be feeling a baby move. Maybe she thought it was gas, or or any of many other gastric troubles. And I've also heard of thinner women who were in deep, deep, denial about their pregnancies and were surprised to find themselves in the delivery room. (good friend is a NICU nurse) And lastly, she doesn't look like the sharpest knife in the drawer, which is my real guess as to how she didn't know.
