Hello VJ Members - I wanted ask you guys how much time usually a US Consulate in Islamabad, Pakistan takes to review documents. On Oct-20-2015 my father had his immigrant interview and the officer at consulate gave him all docs back and kept his passport. Officer said your case is approved but we want your sponsor to send us form i864A and once we have it we will mail you your passport. I sent my dad that required form and he mailed it through American Express courier service last week and this week his case is still under AP (administration process) but flare changed from oct-21-2015 to Nov-5-2015. My question is has any Thad similar situation and how long usually the consulate takes to review this.

ALL ANSWERS WILL BE APPRECIATED.

Did your dad include the letter that embassy gave him with i864? or some kind of tracker (barcoded) page? OR write the case number on the affadavit? If all is done then still embassy takes about two weeks normally to process the visa.

There are effectively 2 types of AP, one for processing that is in days/weeks and one for security checks that is weeks/months. The latter one is the one you need to be concerned about and there is no way of knowing how long it takes.

No idea it was back in 2008... Also the immigration officer told him this time that his case is approved all the need is i864A. They kept his passport and gave him all original docs back.... The only reason they wanted i864A is since I and my wife we file taxes married filing jointly even though she does not work but she has equal right to my accounts... So God for bid if something happens to me she will have to support my dad financially. My income is over 125% of poverty line and it said in the white slip that officer gave to my dad to submit i864A only.

No need to worry about the 864, it is very limited in scope.
