Lost receipt letter

I filed I-751 for my wife in the summer and got the receipt notice and held interview in September.

However, I cannot find the receipt letter. We also temporarily moved out of the house and I am worried that future USCIS letters might get lost (although I did set up mail forwarding).

How do I get the receipt number? I know info session might work. Can I do it over the phone and let them look it up for me?

Also, when should I expect the approval notice and green card to be mailed out?

Mail from USCIS cannot be forwarded, so it should be returned to USCIS by USPS if it is not deliverable to you for whatever reason.

You can probably call in and ask to speak to a tier 2 officer (i.e. an actual USCIS officer), give them her alien number and they can look up the case status from that and give you the receipt number. You should absolutely do this ASAP in case you have missed an interview appointment or RFE. If you failed to attend a required interview or respond to an RFE then the I-751 would be denied, and your wife may end up in immigration court with removal proceedings being initiated against her.

Thank you. My wife had the interview at the end of September already, so we are just waiting for the approval letters and green card.

Thanks for reminding that USCIS mails cannot be forwarded. We'll call them to update the address.

Ah yes sorry, I missed that in your post. It's possible you still had an RFE, though that's less likely after an interview.

Definitely call and get the case status from a tier 2 officer though, and the receipt number.

If it were an interview, then both of you would have attended, not just her.

Biometrics is where they take fingerprint, photo.

The I-751 receipt letter would not have had the case number anyway. You need the biometrics appointment letter.

There is a form to fill out for address changes - you can do it online on the uscis website

An interview for ROC is very rare. Usually an interview only occurs if a request for further evidence is sent by USCIS to the applicant but the reply is not deemed adequate.

I got the receipt number(s) from USCIS through phone. The case status doesn't tell much (just said they've sent the receipt notice).

The receipt notice actually serves as a one-year extension document, right? Now I've lost it how can I get another copy from them? Infopass?

They might give you another one at an Infopass. It does need to be an original copy to be usable (so a photocopy wouldn't cut it), which only they can provide.
