Filling I-131 with AOS but no travel plans?

HI.

Im thinking of filling I-131 for AP with my AOS application, since its free and maybe I will need to travel while my GC is pending, but I don't have any travel plans yet.

So, my question is, I read i need to attach a suplementary letter with the detail and reasons of this travel. So, since I don't have any plans yet, do I still need to send the suplementary letter or no? If so, what should I write? I was thinking of writing "to be use in case of emergency while GC is pending", what do u think?

You do not need to write anything. Many leave it blank.

A supplement is not needed because you are filing based on AOS. No reason is ever needed when filing with your AOS.

You do not need a supplement because you do not need a reason for applying for the AP. That statement on part 7 asking you to include a supplement does not apply to you, because you are an adjustment applicant.

From the I-131 instructions, page 8:

If you are in the United States, you must attach:

1. A copy of any document issued to you by USCIS showing your present status, if any, in the United States; AND

2. An explanation or other evidence showing the circumstances that warrant issuance of an Advance Parole Document; OR

3. If you are an applicant for adjustment of status, a copy of a USCIS receipt as evidence that you filed the adjustment application; OR

4. If you are traveling..... OR

5. If USCIS has deferred...

Notice the use of the conditional OR. You have a choice to include either 2, 3, 4, or 5 depending on your situation. Including #2 is the supplement page they are asking for in part 7. You do not need it, because you are applying based on #3, adjustment applicant.

• Copy of bio page in your passport
• Copy of K-1 visa
• 2 passport style pictures

Yes -- think of the AOS, EAD, and AP as three distinct, separate packages that all happen to be mailed to USCIS together in the same envelope.

Thanks, thats exactly what I did. Everything in the same envelope, but 3 different packets for each form.
