Does anyone have any recent experience or tips from using a co-sponsor at a K-1 interview in Sydney? I have read recent reviews, and only a few seem to be in the same scenario.

Fiancee had been living in Australia with me for 12 months, up until she returned to America 2 weeks ago. As a result, her father is also filling out an Affidavit of Support for us, because she earned no money in the US last year. I am a little worried that her income, and his, may fall quite close to (or pretty much right on) the poverty line +25% that is generally suggested. The only support being provided is a room from her father when I first arrive - I will be covering other costs with my own funds.

Has anyone used a co-sponsor recently, or do you have experience with how strictly they have enforced these guidelines in the past? Some people seem to have had trouble, others state that the consulate barely even looked at their paperwork. I am not worried about being denied in terms of our legitimacy, or for any other reason, and am confident that we will be approved. But the last thing I want is to be approved on the condition that I file an affidavit from another relative with a higher income, or something similar. I have gotten myself unnecessarily nervous over this, and would love some feedback to help calm my worrying.

As a sidenote, I have my medical exam in Sydney tomorrow! I will make a post afterwards to let you all know how it goes and what to expect.

June 2014 - Met her for 1st time, Sf is a great town, 5 of the best days ever <3 <3

July/Aug 2014 Spent another 5 days in Sf... only reinforced how much I loved her

March 2015 7 day trip to Sf again, we picked the wedding band (F)(F) (F) (F) (F)

Jun 2015 My Beau visited me here in Aussie..... We just want to be together for always

Aug 2015 My 1st visit to Texas, met the parents in her home town, did another trip to Sf... 20 days of BLISS

16 Aug 2015 Proposed and she said YES!!! :wub::wub::wub::wub::wub: (it was a surprise, she had no idea when I was going to 'pop the question')

It's okay - she actually got a pay rise recently which puts her over the necessary income amount. We're still using the co-sponsor because she's only been back in the states a few weeks and doesn't have much in the way of pay records etc.

Unfortunately it looks like the package with all the I-134 related material has been sent via the wrong shipping method and might not get here in time. I'm freaking out about it, actually. I've got copies, but I know I'll need all of the originals to be approved on the day. The last thing I want is them getting angry at me because I showed up without the required documents. Guess I'll just have to see how it goes... Stressful week ahead.

I feel your stress, just picked up my medical records today, so now my package is ready, my fiancé is stressing over the I134 as she is self employed and the income situation could go for or against us depending on which Cso reads our files. Hoping we don't have to go down the co sponsor path.

After my package sitting in Sydney for several days, I called FedEx this morning and hassled them about it - they managed to get it on a late courier and I got it literally an hour before I left work. Unbelievable! The package was branded by them with 'extremely urgent' on it, yet the travel time from Sydney to me was longer than Philly to Sydney via Memphis and Honolulu!

Feels good to have the originals. Good luck for tomorrow mate!

Approved in Sydney this morning! My interview was the shortest of all the ones I saw/heard. Basically 'where did you meet', 'has she been to Australia' and 'any trouble with the police'. It was remarkably simple and felt more like a discussion than an interview. Took about 3-4 minutes, I was in and out in around an hour.

As far as the I-134 goes, he didn't even ask about it. Barely seemed to look at it.

Congratulations on your approval. I went through mine in Sydney today, same deal, asked background on how we met etc and said that my visa would most likely be printed today and sent Monday via courier... Yay for us all!!!

They specifically ask for a Federal Police check...
