Alright so I did my medical in May, came to the USA in August, got married in October and sent my AOS (from k1) late October.

I did not get the flu shot (as my medical was being done in May) will I now receive rfe because I sent my AOS in during flu season?!

I'm a little confused! I'm 24 if that matters... (Flu shot aged related?)

Flu shots are not age related. Technically everyone should get them to protect small children, the elderly, people with low immune system and heart problems.

I do not know but I'm curious too how this works though I think it depends more on if they adjudicate your AOS during flu season though I'm not sure.

You were not required to get it at your medical because it was not flu season then, so unless you get an RFE asking for a new medical/vaccinations during flu season, you will not need it.

Yeah this is the reason I'm asking - am I required to have it now or will they accept it anyway? Guess I can only wait and see.

Would appreciate if anyone in similar situation could tell me otherwise :)

Not required to get it now on your own, no. It was not flu season when you had the medical, so the flu shot was waived. So, you had the medical in May, you filed your AOS and if the IO processes your case in Dec., then the waiver is still valid. If for some reason you were asked to get a new medical or vaccinations during flu season, then you would need to see a civil surgeon. The I-693 you would get from the civil surgeon would override the old K-1 medical, and you would need to get the flu shot then.

Nich-Nick explained this well here > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/

**Note on flu shot: Flu shots are required for adults of all ages if your visa exam was between (Oct 1 and March 31). But if the AOS adjudicator picks up your case when it is not flu season, you will be excused. And the reverse is true. The adjudicator picks up your case during flu season, but sees it was NOT flu season when you had your medical exam, you are also excused because the date they go by is the date of your visa exam to determine if you were current on that date. Keep in mind that if you go to a civil surgeon for an I-693, then you are resetting the medical exam date for immunizations and you may have to get second doses of shots or a flu shot to become current on your new immunization date of record.
