Put old alien registration # on forms and passport pics?

My husband held a green card and it was valid when we moved out of the US, 6 years ago. The card/residency is no longer valid which is why I am filing a new I-130 petition for him. Should I write his previous alien registration number on the documents and back of passport photos? I'm assuming they will know this when they put his info in their system. Also, should I submit a photo copy of his now invalid green card? Thank you.

I'm finishing up the packet tonight so I think I will go ahead and do these things. Include photocopy of his old green card and write his A# on the back of the photos and where it asks for it in the forms.

I have just finished the process that you are starting. My husband had a valid green card, we moved away for 8 years, applied for a new one. his new green card was issued today. I used his previous alien registration number for everything. I have no idea if we still have his old green card, we did not submit any information about it besides to say that we had applied for/been granted one where it asks about it on a form, but I used to same alien registration number.

The beneficiary in our case also previously held a greencard which was returned to them after leaving the US. Couldn't remember the A number, so we put UNKNOWN on the forms. Hope it will not be a problem during the interview?

Ah, ok, thanks for the responses! We still have the green card. He's been holding onto it for dear life, not letting go of the dream to move back to the US! It's such a cool looking card, too. We totally thought we'd be able to just slip back in through immigration with a short form or something to fill out and were SHOCKED when we went to the consulate in MARCH (yes, been dragging my feet completing this paper work) and they told us nope, got to start all over again. It would have been EASIER and CHEAPER if we had our heads screwed on better BEFORE we left the States and applied for his citizenship. We still shake our heads about that huge mistake. I think we always just put immigration in the back of our heads, thinking that we'd never go live in Israel. But sometimes ###### happens and life leads you places you didn't think they would. Anyways - here we are starting all over again. I appreciate your input! Good luck to you all, too!
