- Write a letter explain your case (in other words, your love story).

- Write an affidavit of no relations: "I, Mr. Etrnaly, here solemly swear that the following people 1. 2. 3. are not related to me bhabl blah blah and will take full responsibility and penalty permitted by laws blah blah if this statement to be found not true by anyone. Sign and get notorized. Done! (not common for one to go this route but if they have doubt you two are related, you must go the extra mile to disprove their suspicision.

Bottom line here is: Remove all doubt in regarding your family's non-relations with hers. Good luck and WELCOME to Visa Journey.

I hope this helps and by all mean I have doubt in your relationship. These are my opinion and should not be taken as legal advise :D

Love,

Chuck and Kim

I have already written a draft of the letter I'm planning to send to the CO. However, I think it'd be helpful if someone else takes a look at it before I send it off. If you're willing to read it and offer suggestions, PM me.

For the affidavit, I've never written one before. I kind of just took what you wrote:

I, MY NAME, here solemly swear that the following people

1. WIFE

2. FATHER IN LAW

3. MOTHER IN LAW

are not related to me and will take full responsibility and penalty permitted by law if this statement to be found not true by anyone.

Is that all I need?

Thanks.

My wife had her interview last month in HCMC, and she was given a 221g. They requested my tax return, previous addresses, my family/relative info (i.e. ssn, addresses, how they immigrated to the US, etc.). Has anyone else dealt with the 221g? How long did it take? What were the results?

Have a kid, they can't deny your case. Look at what Chicago Man did when his cas was denied.

what happened to this case? how come everyone just stopped talking?

Anyways, from my experience, they will accept your letter even if it is a fax so dont worry about the time it would take for you to mail her the original. What i did was i signed up with this internet fax thing (eFax) and because i have a fax machine, i just fax what ever information i want to send back to her and this will come to her email address in a .tiff format, which is a universal picture format that could be viewed anywhere in the world, and all she would have to do is then print them out and then bring it to the interview. This was a huge huge thing for us because we were turned away with the blue slip on 5 different occasions, each time they asked for something new but it got to a point where what they were requesting each time is for more SPECIFIC information on literally the same thing. So i know what you are kind of going through because of the blue slip, but refer to this post: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showuser=9385 . It seems they have the right and power to delay your case just on a minor suspicion, they just want to be really sure. For my case, i didn't even have an engagement ceremony which was some thing that i feared would be the deal breaker, but it ended up only being my financial situation. It seemed the letter of explanation for our meeting and continued relationship did the trick along with the photos of my last 3 visits in the last 22 months.

My situation got complicated because my yearly salary is enough but i only started working middle of last year, so my actual income is slightly short of the requirement and because i was a student before that they really wanted to question my financial abilities. They were strict on using my parents as a co-sponsor until i could prove that i can attain and maintain my income. Which i was able to prove because i sent them about 26 pages worth of documents. I sent a table of content to clearly illustrate my case, i sent a letter summarize and explaining and answer all the questions and concerns that they outlined on the blue slip. I also sent my 2003 and 2004 tax returns because those were higher than the required level (i worked full time as an intern during my college years because my school has co-op) and i also include letters from my parents and CPA and tax preparer. They took awhile to review the documents, sent my fiance home without a blue slip and only telling her to wait for them to review. I called back in two weeks later and they said it was approved and they sent out the letter the prior week.

So, yea, they definitely can send you around in circles, because they can, and probably because i sucked at providing them exactly with what they wanted, but i think in all fairness, their language is really cryptic some times deciphering what they are looking for is hard. But what i found out through all of this is that you should take this thing as almost an informal presentation of your "case". What i mean by that is, there is no singular way to provide a proof, it could be as formal as you want or as informal as you want. There isn't a wrong or a right way, but there is certainly a correct way (call it the consulate way). But, use the letter, write them a letter as though you are talking directly to them, and state in the letter any and all information you think is necessary for them to paint a proper picture of your case. Don't think they skip over what you provide as evidence, i strongly believe that they take their time to look at every thing. But remember that they too are human so they will make mistakes (some of their requests seems really dumb to me) but be patience...it is key to this process. Hope that helps, let me know if you have more questions.
