Hello everyone!

I just want to take a second to thank anyone who sticks around and actually reads this giant wall of text - Thank you thank you :joy:(L)

I have been lurking this site for quite a few months now and finally have decided to join.

I wanted to get some advice from whomever has knowledge or shares this experience of filing for the K1 visa. My questions may already be in another forum so my apologies for that but I want to make sure I don't miss anything.

My fiance is from the US and I am Canadian. We are starting this whole process of filing the K1 visa and I find that there is an abundance of information online and in these forums but sometimes it can be a bit confusing.

Some of my concerns are that we haven't known each other for years and years like some couples. I worry that they may question this. We met in August of last year (On an MMORPG of all things) - We quickly became best friends and remained that way until March 2015 but we had already had feelings for each other since about November 2014 (Some circumstances prevented us from diving into a relationship) He proposed to me in September. Will this affect their decision?

My other concern is that he has been here to visit me several times (Averaging about twice a month for the last few months since he moved from Texas to Michigan) but we didn't think to get his passport stamped until recently. Even now he only has it stamped once going into Canada and didn't get it stamped returning. party foul....

Also he flew to Canada after I used my credit card to buy the plane ticket back when he lived in Texas and we have the ticket that can be printed from the e-mail but not the boarding pass (Didn't know the important of keeping these things at that point.)

Problem with that is that I am a dumb-dumb and accidentally put his name on the billing info but all of MY other information (Address etc) and then his info is entered as the passenger... so it clearly states that the ticket was bought for him to use but it says his name and my address for billing.....

We do not have phone bills as we communicate through Skype calls and Facebook chat. I was going to take screenshots of Skype call logs showing that we've stayed on calls for hours at a time multiple times and a screenshot of how many Facebook messages we have sent each other (Something crazy like 55,000) as well as actual Facebook conversations.

I also have tons of photos of us & photos of us with my friends/family but they will all have to be printed out and dates etc written on the back. We have a couple of Polaroid pictures too which i hope will help cos they wont question whether or not it was photo shopped.

We have receipts for gifts we've gotten each other and we have tickets from when we went to an aquarium (as well as pics) but our names aren't on the tickets...

Also would it help to have my mom and step dad write a letter of some sort? Or should we both write a better explaining our relationship as opposed to just him answering question 34?

We have many family and friends who can testify for us...

Anyway sorry for all the random information. I'm just really nervous about not having enough proof.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jamie & Charlie

You will be just fine with what you have. And don't worry about the time you have been together a lot of people have been together less time and they get approved. You don't need letter from family and friends. You guys have enough evidens :)

It sounds like you have enough proof of meeting within the last 2 years. Especially the tickets to the aquarium along with pictures taken of y'all there if you have them with the sea creatures in background LoL. Trip itineraries- do you have them as well?

We don't have anything other than the 1 stamp in his passport which was from last weekend him coming up here and the plane ticket printed off from his e-mail (From when he flew to meet me for the first time a few months ago). I also can get a print-out from my credit card statement of the purchase of the plane ticket.

Other than that we don't really have much else for trip itineraries.

Not sure if there's any other things that could be used as proof?

Also I don't have an engagement ring yet because he has a specific one he wants to get me which is more than what he can afford right now. though I do have another ring that I wear everyday on that finger from him

My wife and I met online, and three months later met in person and then filed....so you old fogies compared to us !!!!

Will this affect their decision?

Nope

Problem with that is that I am a dumb-dumb and accidentally put his name on the billing info but all of MY other information (Address etc) and then his info is entered as the passenger... so it clearly states that the ticket was bought for him to use but it says his name and my address for billing.....

Use that evidence but attach an explanation like you just did for us. They understand the ease of travel between the US and Canada and that little documentation is required or generated.

Those are all good.....but purposefully generate other kinds of evidences. Content is key. You want to prove that you have a legitimate relationship and the only way to prove that is to show what you talk about....all the serious relationship stuff. Some lovey-dovey should be included since most couples planning to get married do that!

I also have tons of photos of us & photos of us with my friends/family but they will all have to be printed out and dates etc written on the back.

Select the best 8 or 10.

We have a couple of Polaroid pictures too which i hope will help cos they wont question whether or not it was photo shopped.

That's OK. You have the pictures from their and the receipts from there.

Also would it help to have my mom and step dad write a letter of some sort? Or should we both write a better explaining our relationship as opposed to just him answering question 34?

Question 34 is to tell them about one meeting you had with the dates within the last two years before filing. That answer should be two sentences long. Yes draft a letter describing your relationship, but that's only needed for the interview.

We have many family and friends who can testify for us...

Those wouldn't hurt but aren't the key evidences. I'd get them notarized if you choose to send those also.

Bingo, you're in.

Better still.

Ring is not needed, only the letters of intent.

Better still as an add-on.

You are more than covered. all you need to start the process is proof that you have met within the last two years. And you already have that. It would not hurt to include his credit card statement if you used it for anything while there with you. I got a ticket for missing a payment at a toll booth while I was visiting, so I sent that in.

The passport stamp, credit card/bank statements, hotel and/or ATM receipts, etc. can be used. Basically things showing money spent at the time and place you claim to be during the visits. They understand about the lack of passport stamps for visiting between the US and Canada. Just make a note of that. Some people don't have any passport stamps from their visits and get approved.

Engagement rings are not required.

When my husband (then Fiancé) visited me the first time, we didn't think about marriage at that time... But in few days after his leaving we realized we couldn't be apart and we started K1 process.

So, we haven't known each other for years, we had only few pictures of us together, one visit, no engagement ring either ;) But we had 'the book" of Facebook msgs, ton of daily emails, Skype - each for hours, and daily Zello "walkie Talkie" screenshots :) We got approval in 3 weeks after receiving the NOA1.

In the "intent to marry" letter for I-129F my husband mentioned he was going to visit me the second time, and when. I see your concerns about just one stamp in his passport as a proof of your Fiancé' visit. So,he still can describe all his visits in "intent to marry" letter..

Anyway, I believe with all you have you should be just fine!!! ;)

Good luck!!
