Did not used to be required, however yes it can be avoided just a question of timing.

I fall under the category of knowing a woman (grandmother's best friend) who got a flu shot, got sick and died within the month. That made me biased whether founded or not. Silly, I know. I've never had a flu shot or the flu....until two weeks ago. Wasn't too bad and I didn't die. But Tamiflu medicine is expensive. Haven't gotten the bill for the diagnostic test for flu yet.

Pretty sure OP means all the nasty stuff you can get from the vaccines. I'm all for vaccines but not that one.

If you have time I'd like to hear more about why you don't want the flu vaccine. I generally avoid Western medicine when I can (and pharmacy drugs) and my fiance is really against both-but I'm not very well versed in vaccines.

Although luckily I don't know anyone personally who has died as a result of the flu jab, I do know several people who had severe reactions to it, my grandmother was hospitalised days after having the jab, my mother and myself both became extremely ill after ours. Would I have it again? Hell no.

On these grounds I made the decision and from my own research I decided I wont be giving it to my 8 year old child either, this is a personal choice.

You can always say you are allergic to eggs. As most influenza vaccines are produced by growing influenza virus in embryonated chicken eggs, and therefore contain trace amounts of egg protein.

I just don't understand how they can force healthy adults to take a vaccination for something that is highly unlikely to kill them or make them severely ill.

I've had the flu once and was down for a few days but just stocked up on my vitamins and ate healthily - not the end of the world.

I think by the time I get to AoS stage it will no longer be flu season so I'm going to take my chances and not get it.

I have also read that if you've had one before and had an allergic reaction then you are advised not to take it - so this could be another option.

Because by us getting vaccinated the idea is that we will protect the vulnerable people such as children, people with heart issues and low immune system.

I don't remember what year it was (I believe it was 2009) there was an outbreak of the swine flu and there was a frantic rush to make a new vaccine. So frantic that a company were allowed to start producing and distributing a new vaccine without it ever being tested on humans.

I didn't know this information at the time, I had just gotten a job as a temp nursing assistant at the hospital in my home town and since I was going to work with people with heart problems and cancer I figured I should get vaccinated.

After that people reported that they had gotten narcolepsy and other awful stuff from the flu vaccine and since then I don't vaccinate myself against any kind of flu.

HI, My fiancé enter US in Feb. 2015 and she had her medical exam Dec. 2014 and did not get the flu shot. We filed AOS in March 2015 and September received RFE from USCIS for a new medical. She had to take the flu shot. We sent in the new evidence in September and received 2 year green card approval Oct. 24, 2015. Fight the government if you want and see who wins!!!!

They actually have shots for people who are allergic to eggs, so this would not be a reason not to have the flu vaccine.

The flu season typically runs from oct-may and I believe if you file for AOS in between this period without having a flu jab and without a waiver then yes you would be required to get the jab. :)
