My husband got his green card in 2007 via marriage. He is now going to apply for citizinshep. My question is, for Part 1 (information about eligibility) which option should he choose? It says to only choose one, but both apply to him:

1. Have been a Permanent Resident of the US for at least 5 years

2. Have been a Permanent Resident of the US for at least three years. In addition, you have been married to and living with the same US citizen spouse for the last 3 years, and your spouse has been a US citizen for the last 3 years at the time of filing your Form N-400.

I'm not sure which to select. If I select option 1, do I still have to submit all the proof of our marriage?

Go for 5 year. While USCIS can ask you to provide whatever documents they want, they generally don't have you validate the integrity of your marriage, unless the suspect foul play. A 5 year application interview is generally a lot simpler. Mine took about 11 minutes, start to finish.
