Hi guys my husband and I planning for my parents to visit us here in the US next year. I am not a US citizen yet that's why i can't apply for a petition. im worried about my mother's maiden name which is my middle name too the spelling on one letter at the end is different. ex: My birth certifcate is QUINTO My mom birth certificate is QUINTU. also my siblings birth certifcate are the same as mine QUINTO. it will be ok if she will apply for passport using her birth certifcate QUINTU and use for applying tourist visa? then later on when i become a citizen and if i will petition her that's the time she will change her maiden name on her birth certifcate and passport before i started the paperwork.

any inputs will highly appreciate!

thanks

Which one is correct? I had my Mom's name changed on my brother's birth certificate (she petitioned him F2B), it only cost P1000 and 2 months to wait until NSO/PSA updates their record.

I suggest do it now than later.

QUINTO is the correct one coz all my 5 siblings and me that's the middle name we have in our birth certificate. My problem is we don't have enough time to change it now coz its gonna take 2 months then another month to wait for passport when she apply. Paperwokrks in the PH take so long to process. Its not gonna be a problem if we change it when the time I'm gonna petitioning her? Also she can change again her maiden name on the passport then?

Whats the issue? the names sounds like they match the birth certificates?

Theres no rule that says your middle name should match her last name? Just cause the intent is to keep the maiden name in the family theres no rule you couldn't have americanized it or anything. 99% other people have unique middle name that has nothing to do w/ mother's maiden name so not sure why this would be any different?

Yeah in the Philippines they have the same middle name as their mother's maiden name if she's married. Unlike in the US and other country they can have different middle names.

It seems that you made up your mind. You should check with the local civil registrar, they can answer you better.

As far as potential problem with USCIS later on, they are just particular with consistency of paper works.
