Hello

I was wondering if I can travel overseas after my N400 interview and before my oath ceremony? I know that basically I can because I have my green card with me but just wanted to make sure I won't have any issues if I leave for a month and then come back for the oath ceremony

Hello,

It is not advisable to travel before my Oath of ceremony. You can call to the USCIS Customer service office to check.

Not true at all - they don't advise either way.

to the OP - Although you may wish to tell your interviewing IO that you want an OATH date a little further out since you have travel plans between x and Y dates. You will have your GC in hand still and shouldn't experience any problems. traveling for a couple weeks doesn't negate your citizenship interview approval

As long as you are not in jeopardy of breaking continuous residence and physical presence, it is fine.

Be aware that many oath letters give less than 2 weeks notice. I would not want to miss my oath ceremony, and I imagine you feel the same.

Thanks Kovacs. Just FYI - I called NBC and they said I can travel as long as I keep an eye on my mail.

Hi guys. My wife (Thai citizen) just successfully passed her exam this last week. She was told that DHS will send her information in the mail soon about the oath ceremony, such as date and location (apparently in our area there is a backlog/waiting list for the oath ceremony until as late as next year). We are also scheduled to travel back to Thailand this winter over the holidays for about 3 weeks.

The time we are away will not jeopardize her application for being out of the country more than 6 months. She has a Thai passport and her US green card. She will obviously be able to leave the US and enter Thailand. But, I just wonder if there will also be any problems with her coming back to the US. Can anyone confirm that she will be able to travel to and enter the US from Thailand post-interview/pre-ceremony with just her green card?
