What is the Difference Between a K2 and K3?

Hi everyone!

I got the notification email from NVC regarding the K1/K3 application and the MNL Case number (Yahoo! Here we go!).

I have printed out 2 payment slips for me and for my son.

Now, I am a bit confused:

What is the difference between a K2 and K3 visa? All the while I thought my son is a K2. If my son is a K3, what documents do we need to prepare for my son's K3 visa interview? Is the fee still $265?

Thank you in advance!

K3 is a spousal visa. I'm guessing your son is a K2.

K2 = child

K3 = spouse

You are the K1 and your son will be the K2. K3 (for you and K4 for your son) is seldom used and therefor it's not relevant to you. For fees and additional information see here.

Thank you for your replies!

I got confused when the NVC notification says K1/K3 application. I thought theyre referring to me and my son. Thank you for making this clear.

One more question, what are the docs needed by the K2 for the interview?

You are a K-1 (Fiancee) your son is K-2. Your son needs most all the same documents as you do, some are age related and not required for your son. Yes the visa fee is $265 for each of you.

Follow the embassy instructions letter. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/K1-K2%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf
