The conservatives or the GOP - like them, hate them, agree with them, disagree with them, they have always been what they are and have always believed in what they believe. I did not say I am choosing one side over the other, quite the contrary. I said I don't see ANYONE to vote for.

I will refresh your aging memory again. I will give you some latitude because expat did say "in this country" and he does live in Saudi. You may not have know that and confused it with the US.

like the law to kill gay people right here in this country is a Muslim push, based on the Islamic Quran.

In that, I do not believe you have any room to talk, unless you want to publicly speak up and declare the Muslims that you identity with and who use the Quran to justify throwing gay people from the top of buildings as wrong and the book they use to justify it also as wrong. Hopefully you do understand that in this country and every country around this country being gay is cause to be put to death yet you identify with those who put them to death while also being critical when folks don't want people who put gay people to death because they really believe god wants that to be in charge.

You probably can't see how this sounds, but declaring the anti-gay laws of the "conservatives" (which are actually based on the christian element in that group) as wrong, while identifying with those who believe gays should be thrown from a tall building, then stating that it is wrong for the conservatives to say a Muslim shouldn't be in charge when Muslim countries put gay people to death is all messed up.

Muslims aren't in charge in the US. I am referring to places where they are in power and Islamic law is enforced.

For that matter, and speaking of, you really don't have any room to talk about slavery either. Slavery is openly practiced in Africa, today, under Islamic law. For all of your comments about slavery 100+ years ago in the US I wonder why you identify with the beliefs in the last places on the planet where slavery is openly practiced and justified, because of those beliefs and teachings.

What say you? If you were in my place wouldn't that seem a little hypocritical? If this and the death penalty for things like criticizing Islam or being gay are a fundamental part of the law why would anyone not be concerned about putting those who practice these beliefs in charge?

I think you need to revisit that earlier comment. Unlike you, I know and see Sharia law and live under Sharia law so I get to see it first-hand. It's effective, but it isn't freedom and it isn't pretty when a mistake is made.

I am not talking about a few thousand or a fraction. I am talking about whole countries and entire parts of the world where this a part of established law and is the rule, not the exception and that includes those who want to live peacefully.

There is just one problem with the above highlighted quote. None if it is actually and factually true.

I was just referring to him and others considering a comment about not wanting a muslim pres by Carson to be "islamophobia". I figured maybe if instead of muslims we pretended it was robots, more people could relate to it. So yeah over 1 billion robots ar peaceful but if several hundreds of thousands of them want to kill all homosapians, not sure we could feel comfortable with a robot president.

That's the point you are missing. Like I said, agree with them or not and I certainly have nothing against gay people but tell me this, are the conservatives today alot more conservative than they were 100 years ago? Were they any less against abortions or gay marriage then than they are now? The answer is no. On the other hand look at what's going on on the progressive side. It's been an almost 180 degree change on almost all issues in one century. I find it to be incredibly disturbing. I find the words that came out of the dems mouths during their debate to be incredibly alarming for the future of this country. BTW on the issue of abortion I kind of have a middle of the road stance as well. I believe that while in some cases in may be necessary, it should NOT be used as a form of birth control. Nor should it be legal after the 20th week as that is no different than murder. If it is before then, then nobody can really stop you even if it's morally wrong(as in a form of birth control see above). I do think the Republicans that think no abortions should be legal even in cases of rape and incest are just as insane as some loopy dems. I also don't think the taxpayers should pay for it.

No racism is normal. Whether you want to call it islamophobia or any other term you choose. I cannot stand the singling out of that issue as well as gays or blacks because it is NO different than any other hate or prejudice(towards Jews, mormons, native americans etc). This whole "black lives matter" bandwagon is INSANE. ALL LIVES MATTER, period.

lol...I'm with you. Although while I agree with most of what you said, and while it may be true with some members, I have to say the latter part does not apply to me. While at times it may seem like it just because of the way I write or phrase things, it is very rare something actually gets to me. But yeah things do get boring at times don't they.

In my lifetime, both parties have moved away from center on many issues.

In the 1970's, Republicans were split on the issue of abortion. In the 1976 party platform, they are in favor of further public dialogue on abortion. They were also not as preoccupied with religion or faith, and lowering taxes didn't really come up until the 1980's. The 1960's platform touts progressive policies such as liberal pay for workers and contribution to "general welfare". If you read that today, you might think they mixed up the links to the Democrat platform.

It's sometimes said that it's difficult for moderates to win elections. I'm not sure if there's any truth in that or not. Unfortunately, to test it out, you would first have to find a moderate.
