That is so lame it is sad, albeit very typical, uncreative and uninspiring.

Some more flawed liberal logic that tries to compare wanting to make me waste my time on saying something just to make someone else happy - to me wanting you to deal with your feelings like an adult.

You can't force comparisons that are not there, either.

Deflexion at best. Please list 10 things wrong with Bernie policies.

i don't think he knows much about bernie's policies, just that he can't support support him because he's 'extreme'.

Kind of my thoughts when you said I was forcing you to answer a simple question. You 're all too eager to attack something liberal, yet you claim to be a moderate. Seems to me I'm not the one dealing with feeling of inadequacy.

Is it even possible to have a conversation without using such loaded language? Or are you so "moderate" you have to say liberal every time you don't agree with someone? I'd suggest eating more vegetables, or maybe a hug...

Deflexion? You mean that common liberal tactic?

Sure, right after you come up with a list for me on Peter Shumlin's policies.

i don't think he knows much about bernie's policies, just that he can't support support him because he's 'extreme'.

Nice try, but not the kind of trap I tend to fall into. Rest assured, I know what his policies are and do not feel the need to prove that. Most VTers know all about his policies. It's hard not to. I reserve the right not to get into a lengthy political conversation and if all I want to say is I don't like him I shouldn't HAVE to elaborate just cause someone decided he must be so fabulous that if you can't waste your time to prove that you know his policies there's just no way someone who actually does won't like him.

BTW, there's even at least 3 topics from the past that you and I agree on. Same with Expat. There's also 3 I agree with Bernie on. Auditing the FED being one of them. LEgalization and the death penalty being two others. However I can't agree with him on most other social/economical policies. The US should not be Denmark. That is not what the US was founded on.

I "attack" liberals because if you ask me most of them have, well, gone kind of loopy in the past century. I am sorry if that offends you. I have a right to my opinions. The difference between the GOP and the Dems is that a century ago, there were certain opinions that even 5% of Americans would not have dared think let alone express. Those today are mainstream in the democratic party which to me makes them radical fools. It is not a "GOOD" change. It is not progress. Some of it's not even socialism. It's getting borderline communism. American ideals don't matter to them anymore. Conservatives on the other hand like them or not, and I certainly don't agree with everything they do, have remained pretty constant throughout the years. If anything an argument can be made they have become somewhat "softer" in the last 100 years. And American ideals matter to them.

So anyway to make a long story short because now you're really starting to waste my time which is exactly what I was trying to avoid, I've already brought up several things I agree with the more "liberal" side on. And then there are issues I lean more towards center-right on. It's called being open minded and looking at each issue at hand not just succumbing to labels. How many issues can you say you agree with the GOP on? How many issues can most GOP voters say they agree with the Dems on? Who's the extremist and who's the moderate?

I'm pretty much done here.

I'm pretty much done here.

Two things:

1. I agree with smaller government spending. Also a strong military since I'm a veteran. The GOP's policies aren't the issue, it's the people who go off the deep end from within the party. You talk about loopy? You got folks trying to pass laws that discriminate against gay people, one even tried to get one passed to legally kill them. Trying to take a woman's choice away about what to do with their own bodies. Not to mention the rampant Islamophobia that's promoted on the regular. If this seems normal to you, I don't know what to say.

2. As for who's the extremist and who's the moderate, I've never referred to you as anything but you. I don't call you a repub or some other silly nickname. But you can't even have a conversation with someone and not call them a liberal or they think liberal. You've done it like 3 times in the conversation alone. Does that sound moderate to you?

What's going on here...we're agreeing too much lately :pop:

Other than 1-2 issues that we do not agree on we are actually not all that different.

I suspect this is true for 99% of the people on this board.

We do have a few outliers, such as those who refrigerate their hot sauce or sniff other members, that are on the "VJ watch list" but the rest of us pretty much focus on a few differences while dismissing everything else that we may have in common.

Guilty myself. My personal reason is boredom and lack of entertainment and it's dam entertaining to fire someone up and watch them go.

That's the point you are missing. Like I said, agree with them or not and I certainly have nothing against gay people but tell me this, are the conservatives today alot more conservative than they were 100 years ago? Were they any less against abortions or gay marriage then than they are now? The answer is no. On the other hand look at what's going on on the progressive side. It's been an almost 180 degree change on almost all issues in one century. I find it to be incredibly disturbing. I find the words that came out of the dems mouths during their debate to be incredibly alarming for the future of this country. BTW on the issue of abortion I kind of have a middle of the road stance as well. I believe that while in some cases in may be necessary, it should NOT be used as a form of birth control. Nor should it be legal after the 20th week as that is no different than murder. If it is before then, then nobody can really stop you even if it's morally wrong(as in a form of birth control see above). I do think the Republicans that think no abortions should be legal even in cases of rape and incest are just as insane as some loopy dems. I also don't think the taxpayers should pay for it.

No racism is normal. Whether you want to call it islamophobia or any other term you choose. I cannot stand the singling out of that issue as well as gays or blacks because it is NO different than any other hate or prejudice(towards Jews, mormons, native americans etc). This whole "black lives matter" bandwagon is INSANE. ALL LIVES MATTER, period.

And killing Kate's Law? Absolutely friggin out of their mind.

Do you think Brad Paisley is one of the greatest artists alive too?

lol...I'm with you. Although while I agree with most of what you said, and while it may be true with some members, I have to say the latter part does not apply to me. While at times it may seem like it just because of the way I write or phrase things, it is very rare something actually gets to me. But yeah things do get boring at times don't they.

You ask about 100 years ago, were you alive back then? I wasn't so how can I speak on it? Also you totally ignored the whole making a law to kill gay people. That's a conservative push, not a progressive one. Not to mention the religious discrimination law, that's also a conservative push.

On the Repub side, we're hearing that Mexico is a country full of rapists and murderers. That Muslims shouldn't be trusted and appointed to office. And these are the fringe outliners, but people running for the highest office in the land. And this is who you stand behind? What's so bad coming from the progressive side that topples this?

If you haven't figured out that BLM means only BLM, then I don't know what to tell you. It means our lives matter too. If you want to learn about it, do the research or ask someone instead of putting down a movement you don't understand or care about.

I actually do not agree with this.

It's a christian push, and based on the christian bible, just like the law to kill gay people right here in this country is a Muslim push, based on the Islamic Quran.

In that, I do not believe you have any room to talk, unless you want to publicly speak up and declare the Muslims that you identity with and who use the Quran to justify throwing gay people from the top of buildings as wrong and the book they use to justify it also as wrong. Hopefully you do understand that in this country and every country around this country being gay is cause to be put to death yet you identify with those who put them to death while also being critical when folks don't want people who put gay people to death because they really believe god wants that to be in charge.

You probably can't see how this sounds, but declaring the anti-gay laws of the "conservatives" (which are actually based on the christian element in that group) as wrong, while identifying with those who believe gays should be thrown from a tall building, then stating that it is wrong for the conservatives to say a Muslim shouldn't be in charge when Muslim countries put gay people to death is all messed up.

Were up to me, I wouldn't let either one be in charge. Religion doesn't belong in government. Never been a time in history when that worked out.

I think putting someone to death over their sexual preference wrong, doesn't matter what side they're on. But what's the difference in a Muslim saying it just like a Christian would say it? Both are wrong and I don't agree with it in any capacity. Just was pointing out while liberal policies left unchecked could be a bad thing just as well, focusing on one and not the other would be hypocritical.

Do I really have to respond to every little thing specifically? Geeze what is it with you people. Did you not read where I said I have no problem with gay people? Wasn't talking about you. I said the conservatives that stand against this I have a problem with. Yet you don't label someone bad as conservative. Only if it's a "liberal" concept.

Talk is cheap. The Muslims actually kill them. I would say this is a huge difference. Kind of like when you would say you were going to cut people.

I think putting someone to death over their sexual preference wrong, doesn't matter what side they're on.

Do you? Because it is Islamic to do so.

Same-sex acts in Malaysia are punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a flogging and Malaysia isn't the Middle East.

It was narrated from Ibn`Abbas that the Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever you find doing the action of the people of Lut, kill the one who does it, and the one to whom it is done.” (Hasan)

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said concerning those who do the action of the people of Lut: “Stone the upper and the lower, stone them both.” (Hasan)

If you talk that way in a Muslim country, even Malaysia, you can be flogged or put to death. Just for criticizing Islam. You're offended over homophobic speech but you practice the last religion in the world that still executes, imprisons, and beats homosexuals in the name of the state and then you're offended because someone said "Muslims shouldn't be trusted and appointed to office" and can't figure out that this and a couple of other policies is EXACTLY why.

I think you should fly over to Malaysia, declare you are a Muslim, and declare your stance on gay rights. That will be the instant point in time that you will realize why "Muslims shouldn't be trusted and appointed to office". You would be lucky to survive the flogging, heard you lose consciousness about halfway through.

Or when you talked about killing Muslims. But like you said talk is cheap. And there are plenty of Christians that kill here.

What does the bible say about Homosexuals?

  • You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination."[1]
  • "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them."

You can go to somewhere like Nigeria, which is a Christian country and have the same thing happen to you. It's not exclusive to Islam.

I've been to Malaysia, as a Muslim a few times. And there are 6 million of them living here who aren't killing gays in the street.
