Replace Christianity with Judaism and that would be correct. Christians teach that Mosaic law ended with Jesus, making this another pointless analogy. You'll have to tangle with Oriz about Jewish practices but I highly doubt that they either teach, practice, or make this part of their law today.

I think a lot of that varies from denomination to denomination. In my understanding, its not that black and white.

I seriously doubt anyone with any type of real religious conviction could "check that at the door".

In theory, the original framework for the US government should be able to handle a religious or athiest fanatic as a president without harming the people.

The question you have to ask is, is that true today or does the executive branch have too much power. Has the office had some of its checks removed?

I think the answer is yes. What we need first and foremost is a President that is willing to limit his or her power.

You can't seriously argue that women's equality is generally more of an issue in Muslim countries

I think there's a bit more going on to cause this than their religion. The Koran only gives "justification" to something they would be doing anyway. You could use the bible in the same way if you wanted really. Fortunately, us first world halfway Christians choose to ignore the rotten bits of the bible. The middle east needs a Magna Carta type of event. If people there thought they had basic human rights as a guarantee, I think things would change.

You go tell these young girls and women their kidnappings mean nothing because it didn't happen in the name of Islam

Are you implying I'm a brawling woman?

Maybe, its hard to say. With the legislative branch being the quagmire it has become, I think people are looking for one leader to just force the agenda they most agree with. I think we identify more with a single symbol of leadership than a group of representatives. We don't want votes, we want decisions. I think we're just too action oriented to accept less power from a president.

But it is still practiced because it was in the bible.

It is most certainly not practiced in Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Chechnya, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Dagestan, Ingushetia, by ISIS, and by Boko Haram because it was "in the bible".

It is also not practiced in India, among the Hmongs, or in China or Japan because it's "in the bible" either.

That leaves where?

Must be why everyone is still making sacrifices and celebrating Passover.
