Marvin has given several examples of his unprovoked mistreatment by police.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It does. This one cherry picked incident, proves beyond reasonable doubt, that police brutality is a left-wing conspiracy construct.

Does this mean that police brutality doesn't exist? Because I can find more than a few instances where there was video that says otherwise.

You mean the way you punish all white folks by saying they are the reason why you get harassed WWB?

I don't know how many times you have been unfairly treated by whitey, but it seems to have been quite a bit. But surely you realize that you are complaining to the wrong folks here? Preaching to the choir, as it were? Cuz I don't think anyone here has wronged you, have they? You may not mean it, it may be a product of your upbringing, but you give off the air that you think white folks in general, and police in particular, are to blame for the bad times you have had to endure in your life. But I say again, it is no one here. Why not hold those responsible for actually doing you harm, instead of generalizing?

I mean this not to antagonize you, nor to make light of the obvious distaste you have for unfair treatment. For all I know, you may be 100% justified to feel the way you do. I have never walked a mile in your moccasins, and therefore cannot judge you, as per the natives of this land. But as for my experience in life, I typically find that when things are going badly for me, 93.437% of the time it is my own doing.

1. When you say all white folks, can you show me where I've said this? Because for the most part, I try really hard not to generalize.

2. I'll have to reiterate the police brutality; came at the hands of a black man. Sgt Mooney. Look it up, I've said it before. As for the basic harassment, those cops were white. But like I said, it doesn't color my perception of white people as a whole. I know they don't represent the entire race of people.

3. I don't hold anyone here responsible for the treatment I've received IRL. What I do is point out the stark differences between POC and the majority of white people that live here in the US. What I don't do is, use memes to generalize an entire religion, or find videos of white people acting up to justify why I should hate all of you.

I do not and will not condone hatred towards ANY race of people.

1. When you say all white folks, can you show me where I've said this? Because for the most part, I try really hard not to generalize. Not precisely. Just a general feeling I get from your postings. If I am taking you the wrong way, please accept my apologies.

But like I said, it doesn't color my perception of white people as a whole. I know they don't represent the entire race of people. I will, not familiar with it (I don't get out much, nor do I watch much news; it is mostly a waste of time, I think)

What I don't do is, use memes to generalize an entire religion, or find videos of white people acting up to justify why I should hate all of you. You SHOULDN'T hate all white people. That's the very definition of being racist, I am sure you know. Among my black friends, some seem to think the WWB thing is real, while others just roll their eyes at the concept. Since I am not black, I cannot way what it's like being black and being stopped by the cops. I can only say that every single time it has happened, I was always doing something that justified them stopping me, and I ensured my attitude was cooperative, respectful, and I never had any issues.

I do not and will not condone hatred towards ANY race of people.

That's a good way to be. I judge people by the way they act towards or around me. Not based on their race, religion, nor sexual preference. Each human is just that, a human, and should be judged based on his/her own merit.

But I stand by what I say about Dorothy Bland; she was trying to sensationalize a very normal, respectful stop by officers. Until she turned around, they had no idea she was black. And they were as polite to her as the would have been to Kim Kardashian or Michelle Obama or Madonna. Kudos to the police for doing their job. And I think ole Dorothy deserves a reprimand at a minimum, for trying to defame the officers.

I don't believe that race had any roll in this, but to be fair, it says in the story that the police had originally approached Dorothy Bland from the front and when motioned at by the driver of the truck that was impeded, they turned around and followed her. So there is a very good chance that they knew she was black before she turned around.

Good point. I did not initially catch that part. Thank you for pointing it out. But I agree with you, her skin color had nothing to do with this particular stop. I think these officers were doing just what they said. Which is refreshing, in light of the copious amounts of stories of cops doing the wrong thing this year.

I'm pretty sure I need one too.

Over-privileged people do not qualify.

I agree, it was a very polite and respectful exchange on behalf of the officers.

Verifiable? I'll defer to his integrity.

Trust me, I don't joke about something like that. I almost didn't come home that night. It changed my perception of what I wanted to be when I grew up, and it made me understand at 17 that police brutality doesn't have a color line. Black people are sometimes harder on each other than they are on other races. Either to help us understand the game is rigged and we have to be prepared for that, or self-loathing.

My one run in with the brutality aspect was the scariest. Only by God's grace I'm still alive, Mooney would have killed my friend and I if I didn't stay put and just took the handcuffing and beating. And all of this was because we went walking at night to the gas station to buy candy. We weren't breaking any laws nor were we causing trouble. So when folks say all black people have to do is be respectful to stay alive, I politely call BS. Because I was as nice as possible, even went as far as assuming the position of placing my hands on the car so he could handcuff me over a fallacious charge that included theft and trespassing and all my friend did was ask why we were being arrested, which resulted in his assault.

The rest were just stops in which white police officers pulled us over and asked a bunch of irrelevant questions. I'm cool if I'm speeding or whatnot and get a ticket. Making an illegal turn, lights out, these are things I have no issue with if I'm pulled over. Things like, what are you doing in this neighborhood? Or, nice car, is it stolen? Or, my personal favorite, I see you have out of country plates(Belgium) even though you're not doing anything wrong I'm still going to run your name though to see if anything pops up, just in case. I've had cops follow me for a few minutes and wait until I pulled up in my barracks parking lot just to get out and say I'm speeding, even though I know for a fact I wasn't since I saw him behind me the whole time. I've been pulled over because a passenger in the back seat made eye contact with the cop so he did a u-turn and pulled us over.

I've also had interactions with black and white cops that were pleasant. So I tend to judge by each instances rather than blanket assumptions.

At the end of the day, I can honestly say most black people get angry with the police not because they're doing their jobs. It's because those cops come at us already like we've broken the law, even when we haven't. Like I told my daughters to be and my sons, you're already guilty. The best you can do is be the least wrong in any situation. Because you're black, the burden of guilt comes standard.

In my hometown we had a black cop that hated us. Gave my friend a ticket for impeeding the flow of traffic at 1 AM with no other cars on the road.

When we went to traffic court, he stood outside and refused us entry. Thretned to take us around back and beat us.

That proves nothing nor does your story

Proves my point of police brutality, and that it crosses color lines like I said. At least he just threatened you. Seeing him reach for his revolver, I literally screamed because I knew this was the last time I would see my family again. I knew he was going to kill me since I was the only witness who could contradict his story(there was no way he could let me live if he shot him in the back).

Never said it didn't. Just said it happens more in communities of color than anywhere else.
