Doesn't it feel good that you are now a citizen? I would be freaking out right now but in a good way. Just to know that when I cross back into the US from Canada the first time as a US citizen that the CPB guys have to be just a little more polite.

There is one guy who works at Lewiston/Queenston that is a complete jerk..Officer Faulkner.. and I have had the pleasure of crossing back into his lane a few times. He is one of those guys who is a complete power tripper. Everytime I cross there and end up getting him I curse myself for not using the Whirlpool bridge (NEXUS Only) which is only a 15 minute detour.

As a born American I HATE hearing that. Boo! I hope you're treated better next time. Thankfully my husband has been treated well and in fact he was happy that instead of giving him a dirty look and waving him through like they did in England with his "home" passport, when we came back home from a visit there the guy smiled and said "welcome home!".

Thankfully my husband has been treated well and in fact he was happy that instead of giving him a dirty look and waving him through like they did in England with his "home" passport, when we came back home from a visit there the guy smiled and said "welcome home!".

Thanks Stinker. Usually when I cross at Whirlpool in Niagara, those guys are amazing and very chill. I went in to the Whirlpool office a couple of weeks ago as I had to get my NEXUS card renewed and the officer that was reviewing my application and doing my interview had previously paroled me back in to the US when I was waiting for my conditional green card and was coming back from Canada. So funny because he looked at the stamps in the back of my passport and laughed when he saw one and said "Oh that was me that paroled you back in". Hence that appointment was easy peasy.

When I cross at Lewiston because I am too lazy to drive the extra 15 minutes, is when I usually run into that guy. When I go into Canada (my homeland) I get huge attitude there with the Canadian border agents questioning my status in the US, wanting to see my greencard etc.. So crazy.

Doesn't it feel good that you are now a citizen? I would be freaking out right now but in a good way. Just to know that when I cross back into the US from Canada the first time as a US citizen that the CPB guys have to be just a little more polite.

There is one guy who works at Lewiston/Queenston that is a complete jerk..Officer Faulkner.. and I have had the pleasure of crossing back into his lane a few times. He is one of those guys who is a complete power tripper. Everytime I cross there and end up getting him I curse myself for not using the Whirlpool bridge (NEXUS Only) which is only a 15 minute detour.

I was filling out the SS-5 form to update SSA of my citizenship status and when I checked the box that said "U.S. Citizen", I pretty much squealed and my hubby looked over to check if I was okay LOL I told him that it was my first time ever doing that and I just couldn't contain myself! XD

That's horrible :( *HUGS* Thankfully the times I've encountered CBP (at airports), they were quite nice. Especially my first time, when I crossed on my K-1 visa, *whew.

Awww!!! "home" ^____________^ Oh, that reminded me... The IO never asked me why I wanted to become a U.S. citizen - I thought that would be the first thing they ask. I was thinking about what my answer would be before and I always thought I would say, "because the U.S. is my home" :)

So... I've decided to get my passport ASAP... but I'm not having any luck LOL. I guess it's not meant to be.

The local post office no longer does passport applications.

The second closest one is fully booked for the next 4 weeks.

The third no longer does passport applications.

The fourth will only accept passport applications until Friday, January 29th - after that they will no longer offer passport services.

OMG. That guy stands about 4 feet tall and is on a real power trip. Somehow I don't think his attitude will change much even when we have our citizenship but our stress level at the crossing will go way down. At least mine will.
