I have a question on whether I will receive a Biometrics appointment or not. A bit of my history, I filed a removal of conditions on my CR-1 last year and had a biometrics appointment December 2014. Fast forward to this year. I submitted my N-400 and it was received November 27th, 2015. I am leaving on vacation from the 17th of December until the 9th of January and I am worried that I will receive the Biometrics appointment during that time. From my understanding, most appointments are within 30 days of receipt, which would put me in the middle of my vacation. I also can not ask for a rescheduling until I receive the invite.....however....what my hope is...since I had my Biometrics within 15th months due to the CR-1 removal of conditions, I am hoping that this is not necessary.

Now to my exact question:

My I-797C Notice of Action states, "...upon receipt of all Record Checks, you will be scheduled to appear for an interview at your local USCIS field office."

Is this the normal language, or can i infer that I will not need a Biometrics since the next action listed is the interview?

The language you reference is standard and should not be interpreted to suggest that a background check is not required. New biometrics will be required for the n400 application. Incidentally they will order a second background check after your interview and before you take the oath.

Also, you can attempt early walk-in service as soon as a you receive your letter. Some biometric centers don't mind if you turn up in advance of your appointment date. Mine did not care. Others have a strict policy against it and require a valid reason. Imminent travel should qualify. You can research here to see other people's experiences in your field office.

Thanks for the quick confirmation that it is standard language. However, I have known individuals who did not require the biometrics update as th case officer can use the biometrics data for up to fifteen months- purely a case officer by case officer decision and one I shouldn't count on.

Yes I do hope I receive the appointment later before our vacation as our last one only gave us one week notice before appearing. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the letter comes soon.

Now to my exact question:

My I-797C Notice of Action states, "...upon receipt of all Record Checks, you will be scheduled to appear for an interview at your local USCIS field office."

Do they ask you to verify your name, DOB, or address in the same notice or no? If they do you will have to do that in order for you to even get a biometrics appointment letter. My NOA states that unless I verify my DOB and address they won't proceed with my case, it even has an address to which I have to submit proof of both. I am sending another letter, with pretty much the same personal identification stuff I sent them the first time, explaining where they can find my DOB and my address, because apparently these two items didn't pass the initial check. So almost a month after my submission I am still nowhere, some people already had their biometrics and I don't even have an appointment

Thanks for the quick confirmation that it is standard language. However, I have known individuals who did not require the biometrics update as th case officer can use the biometrics data for up to fifteen months- purely a case officer by case officer decision and one I shouldn't count on.

Yes I do hope I receive the appointment later before our vacation as our last one only gave us one week notice before appearing. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the letter comes soon.

I had to have my biometrics redone for my Naturalization and it was less than ten months since previous ones for the ten year GC! Officers told me that it is always redone for Naturalization, the date of previous is a mute point. (I am tracking dates for November 2015 filers for my 20 year old son)

I have another question, will the biometrics date show up under the case status? Currently, the status states that Form I-797C has been issued. Will it only change when an interview is scheduled, or will it inform me of when a biometrics appointment invite has been sent or scheduled?

This is what my letter said as well. I call USCIS and lady #2 told me that unless I verify the information they won't process my case, so I got a new drivers license since we moved about two weeks after I submitted the paperwork, to confirm the DOB and address. I suggest you do the same, since I don't think we will be getting biometrics appointment otherwise, which is ridiculous because the first time I called another lady #1 told me not to worry about it since this is a normal NOA notice and I somehow doubted that, especially since it had my old address on there. I asked lady # 2 about the online updates and she wasn't sure, she said it sometimes does, sometimes doesn't. I asked as of right now if she can see anything on my case about an appointment and she said NO. She also assured me that she sees the same information on her screen as I see on mine, which is preposterous since they should be able to provide us with additional information instead of what we already know. In addition, the official NOA notice on my case is Nov 12 and I still have not received a letter for biometrics, which is very close to a month. Lady #2 also told me not to worry about the biometrics since it takes them a really short time to reschedule it. To my question, what is a short time, I received no clarification. I will let you know when I get a biometrics appointment, as of today I have mailed the confirmation letter with DOB and address.
