Hi there,

I moved in the Pittsburgh area 2 months ago and the only person I know here is my husband :) I'm wondering if there are other people here in the same situation, who moved from their country to be with their loved one, and would like to meet, exchange experiences, discover the city, do something fun basically!

Enjoy your day!

Hey,

Just noticed your post while searching for anyone going through the Pittsburgh office. I've been in Pitt for about 2.5 years now, best city I've ever been in! If you're looking for fun I suggest taking up a winter sport. My wife got me into snowboarding when I first moved here and it's awesome. Check out Boyce park for cheaper rental and easy learning! Maybe being in Switzerland you already have experience with that though, so check out Seven Springs and Hidden Valley or my personal favorite, Holiday Valley in Western NY. Really cool place but a bit of a drive. Otherwise I suggest driving up to Erie to see the lake, maybe wait until summer for that tough. Have you got an interview scheduled yet? I just got my notice for 02/18!

Hi,

OMG finally! I thought I was the only one in Pittsburgh ;)

Thanks for your tips! Haha yes beeing from Switzerland, I'm already familiar with winter sports. I heard about Seven Springs but never about Boyce park. Funny because it's only about 20 min from our place! With my husband we will probably try it. And definitely Erie this summer, for the lake.

Congrats on your interview notice! I went for biometrics last week and my case says "ready to be scheduled for the interview". So I'm just waiting hoping eveything is fine. I know patience is a big key in all of this process!

I'm waiting for EAD to start applying for jobs. Can you tell me more about the job search in this area? I see online there are job opportunities but I'm always concerned that since I'm not from here, it will be more difficult for me. Do you work?

maybe there are pittsburg meetup groups over at meetup.com ?

Worth a deep dive on a search, especially if'n there is snow on the ground.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
