Freaking out about letter from NVC

Just a little general advice from me when you are going through this journey, just chill a bit more, by your phase " it is just such a sudden occurrence, as I was not expecting anything but a packet 3 at this point" remember this a Government procedure which can be slow and in some cases bungled ( you're lucky going through California) imagine waiting 6-12 months for NOA2 like those in Texas? That is stress.

Sometimes letters are never sent, my packet 3 was sent to a complete stranger in London because they messed the case number up, documents go missing, and in my case on interview in London, the CO started by saying " I see you have been in prison for 23 years " imagine how I felt when in fact he meant " I see you've been in the Police for 23 years" The day before my interview, the Embassy had a power outage and most of the interviews were cancelled and rescheduled for 3 weeks later, imagine that. So as you can see not everything will go simple and logical, step by step, you have to be ready for the unexpected! Try not to get so freaked out on and go with the flow.

Got the exact same letter, a couple of times actually, sent to my fiance's house. It was basically just a mail conformation about the case numbers and where they were sending my package to.

Dont worry :)

Call me crazy....and pardon me for being way out of line, but ummm.....instead of freaking out and asking a bunch of total strangers to guess-timate what it could be...why not have your Mom open it? I know this is thinking way out of the box...but its just a suggestion!

Sorry, just read where you said its a "private matter"....kindly scratch my previous suggestion! Best of luck, Im sure its nothing bad!

Oh...if that's the case, thank you soooo much for the reassurance. I'm really hoping that is the case. My concern manifests from the fact that this is the first time hearing that the NVC sends a letter to the petitioner (if anything my mindset was NOA1 NOA2, then PACKET 3 rather than a letter confirming that the NVC sent out the case)

As far as I know they were always supposed to send the petitioner a letter, for most it just took forever before they actually got the letter.

This is what it looks like. This is an example picture I found online:

Our letter just contained our information and the embassy in Germany. It's time to relax :) .

Guarantee this is what it is.....

The reason you called NVC to get your number is because you didn't want to have to wait for this letter to arrive. That's all that letter (likely) is-- confirmation that they received it, and giving you your number. Your application was forwarded to the embassy before this letter was sent out party because K1s spend basically zero time at NVC (just long enough to get routed to embassies unlike other visas that get processed there) and partly because NVC is apparently that far behind.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

24 Oct 2015: POE !

15 Dec 2015: Fiance's mother's B-2 visa interview: APPROVED! So happy she will be at the wedding!

Ah there's no point of asking people here to guess what the letter is when u can actually find out yourself by asking your mum to open the letter. U said its private but would u rather stress about it and be paranoid and ask around and waste your time researching when the obvious solution to this is by opening it. I'm just saying.

So....5 days. Formal request for update after the freaking. Post haste. I want answers

Alright so apparently my mother recieved a letter from the NVC (currently I am abroad so I won't be receiving it for a few days so I am panicking right now).

It looks like this: 2i8jcec.png

I know it is not much, but I cannot imagine why the NVC would send a letter to me and I'm getting really paranoid and stressed out about it. After all, my case was approved by the UCIS in September 30th, and I called the NVC and got my case number 2 weeks ago (as well as them confirming that they sent the case to Seoul Korea. Also the NVC site still indicates that my case is still in transit.). Soooo...what could they possibly be contacting me about? Not to mention the ominous "Return Service Requested" which I cannot find very much info about at all in the K1 Visa section (I did find some interesting comments in the CR-1 in terms of the NVC returning the case file back to UCIS but they already told me they sent the case to Seoul already so...)

Yeah...I'm really freaking out about this. I'm really terrified about the contents as I have to wait a several days for this to arrive from the states.

So...could anyone possibly shed some light on what this could possibly be? Gah...I'm really stressed out as it is SOOOO close.
