Hello everyone. I need help again. ? I arrived in the US, POE: LAX, Sept 29th and up to this day, no SS card arrived in the mail. So would it be okay if we go to the nearest SS office in our place? And with regards to the green card, when can I start worrying and who do we call to ask about it? Your help is greatly appreciated, thank you VJ family. ?

yes you can go to the local ss office to get the ss card. if it has not arrive in the mail.

For the green card if you go to the elis website there is a link on how to contact them.

It took about 10 days for my wife ss card to arrive and about 5 weeks for the green card

Thanks alot j&ana ?

The 45 days for the green card is not due yet so we will just wait it out. Do you think they will reply soon if we email them? Or is there any way we'll be able to speak to someone directly?

I am not sure how long the e-mail will take

there is a number I call because i forgot my password for elis log in. but i will have to research for the number again. Also I do not know if that number will be of help to you or not.

One thing in case you did not know your cr-1 visa is a temporary greencard. It is good for a year or untill your GC arrives

If you want to work and are waiting for the gc to do that, you do not need to wait, as long as you have the SS card, you can use the visa for the gc for now

Okay j&ana. Im just scared coz I've read here in VJ that some people who go through LAX as their POE experienced problems with their green card, that when they try and ask what's taking it so long, USCIS will tell them to contact the CBP office in LAX coz their file wasn't sent to them yet. I just hope we won't have the same fate. ?

Btw, where is your wife's POE?

Yes to checking with SSA, that would be a good idea.

You paid the $165 fee to ELIS?

OK. Well for now you are good, you have the I-551 stamp in your passport, that is LPR status for a year. I suggest making contact with USCIS at 60 days if your green card hasn't arrived.

Ok Hank. Is emailing them the only way we can follow up about the green card?

You should be able to call USCIS. There should be a phone number on your NOAs, plus I am sure a phone number is listed on their website.

Hello again. So we went to the SS office today and the lady there told us that she can't find my name in the system. The process might take a month or so because it still needs to be verified. ? Have anyone of you experienced this? Is there a possibility that my papers might be 'lost' or something? ?

I think your spending too much time :clock: worrying about something that you have no control over. Just relax and enjoy your time with your husband. (L) Soon everything will start showing up but you have to give it time. This is a marathon and not a race. :)
