Hi,

I have received my NVC case number after calling around 10PM last Friday. When I check the status on CEAC it says: "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center."

Anyway, should I send my documents to my fiancee at this time? The documents I have right now ready are:

  • Form I-134 for my joint sponsor and me.
  • 4 most recent pay stubs from my joint sponsor.
  • 2012,2013, and 2014 tax returns and W2s from my joint sponsor

Is there anything else that I need to send to my fiancee? Also I didn't file tax returns for 2014 as I am unemployed but I did file tax returns for 2013 but didn't make much to meet the amount needed, should I include those returns anyway?

Thank you.

You should also include an updated letter of intent to marry. I believe a letter saying what you said previously, but with current date and signed. Not sure if your sponsor needs an employer letter. Hope someone can give you more info on this subject. Congrats!

Thank you for the information!

If anyone else has any more info that would be great. :)

Yes, you should send the documents to your fiancee as soon as you can. http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-134instr.pdf According to the instructions, you have to submit in duplicate evidence of:

  • Form I-134 from you and your joint sponsor
  • Copy of statement from an officer of the bank with deposits including, date opened account, total deposited for the past year and present balance
  • Statement from employers on business stationery including, date, nature of employment, salary paid and whether the position is temporary or permanent

Joint sponsor also have to provide the same documents as stated on the instructions. In terms of pay stubs, tax returns and W2s, they weren't mentioned on the instructions BUT I would provide them just in case, same goes for the joint sponsor. Since you didn't file your 2014 tax return you should do a letter explaining the reason why to avoid RFE. You should also include your 2013 even though you didn't meet the required amount. Don't worry so much about the amount because you have a joint sponsor and that's the purpose of it.

Like the above post said, you also have to provide an updated letter of intent to marry and that's it.

Thank you very much. Is there a sample letter about explaining the reason why I didn't file tax returns? Thanks!

Thank you very much.

One more question, My joint sponsor is self employed, how does he go about providing a certificate/letter of work employment that includes the date he started to work and the salary he makes?
