Could be the case, but getting the temporary green card stamp seem like a good idea, at least call your local office and check it out.

I just checked about making an appointment.... of course "there are no appointments available in your area at this time".

Another thing the rude guy said was that "Everyone has to get interviewed before they can issue the green card" Is this true? I haven't really heard from many people on this forum that they were interviewed.

We only got interviewed (very brief interview at that) just before being approved for the conditional 2 year green card.

No interview or RFE when it came to the removal of conditions... Granted it took over twice as long for ROC than it did for the 2yr GC, but whatever it's done now!

No never got a interview. I have a friend who work in immigration office and was told that as long as all the documents are provided when you file, they will just approve application.

Interesting... I spoke to a Tier 2 rep today and he said that it's okay to travel with the extension letter. He didn't mention the option of getting a stamp in my passport. He was also very rude so maybe he just didn't want to give me that information.

They will not give you that stamp if you have extension letter which is not 30 days ok before expiration. Don't even try.

But this letter could be pain in ### for some airlines from my experience with American Airlines in DFW airport. they didn't want to let me go out of country even. never had more stress like there. They didn't believe it was good document. And seems USCIS knows about it because in the form of joke but said at the infopass appt that better travel around of USA.:-)

I'm going to be traveling within the US, through Europe and to Asia so we'll see how that turns out!!!! I'll definitely post on how everything went and thanks for the info everyone.

The good news is, when I called USCIS (both times) they said the processing time for this case is 6 months so anyone on here who's application has crossed this time-frame can call and submit an inquiry.

Has anyone traveled overseas on that "extension letter" they sent after receiving your removal of conditions package?

Yes. Went back to Canada in March after GC had expired with 1-year extension letter due to being in ROC process. The only pain was that all airport checkins are basically manual (i.e. with an agent) bc your actual GC is expired (or at least mine was). We even have electronic passport checks at US customs and immigration (we clear customs and immigration in Canada) and even in that step I had to speak to a CBP officer directly. It all went smoothly, but YMMV I suppose???

Hi! I did travel on an extension letter. But before I got approval on my 10yr green card.

I didn't have any problems whatsoever. Now, I got the approval letter but didn't receive my green card yet. And I'm planning to go to Europe in 10 days with an extension letter again:)

Can you make sure, because before you got approved the letter was fine. But once you have been approved, it said that you can't use the letter but need a stamp in your passport. Your card will arrive 5-6 days after you get your letter, my husband did.

I called USCIS today, since it's been just over 6 months since my application (NOA 11/27/2015). I got escalated to an "Officer", and they said that on their screen, it still shows up as it in process.

But all they could do is put in a "service request" & I am supposed to get something in the mail about my case status in 30 days... :( FML

I too am scheduled to travel to Canada mid-July 2016. When I spoke to a USCIS rep yesterday, I specifically asked her about travel outside the US. She said that as long as I have the Extension letter and the expired GC, I should be good. FYI...

Let me know how it turns out for you.

Btw, do you need to get a Canadian visa, if you have the expired GC and 'Removal of Conditions' is in process?
